Skimmer is well made, and the design and concept are simple. Easy to assemble using the large print instruction manual. This thing is a monster at pulling out crud and gunk from the water column. All components are sturdy and well made from acrylic and easily disassembled. The unit is super low in noise and is basically silent when the cabinet doors are closed. This unit is efficient at generating the microbubbles and the funnel is good at providing a column for skim mate to travel. You can fine tune the skimmer by rotating the round button on the top of the collection cup or rotating the pole located on the skimmer body. A wetter skim mate or dry skim mate is at your controls at all times. Super easy! The collection cup is large enough to collect for a while depending on how dry you want to run your skim mate. The cup also has a drain with tubing and shut off valve. Easy to remove and empty the whole cup, but I just use the drain and empty it into a large cup. The collection cup can be a little sticky taking off, but some jelly lube on the O-ring would help ease it. My break-in period was about a day when this unit began producing a nice self-supporting foamy froth almost immediately. A great investment in an awesome DC skimmer for the money. So far, I am very pleased with this Skimmer, it is an efficient workhorse. I was NEVER skeptical with purchasing this skimmer because of the satisfaction of prior IOAOI products and their customer service. You can’t go wrong with this skimmer. My tank mates and I love it!

Upon opening the box, I can feel the skimmer was well made and sturdy. It is smaller and lighter than expected which is great for those with small or tight sumps. Taking it apart for maintenance or cleaning is a breeze. The DC pump itself is pretty quiet with the rubber feet. You can hear a slight buzz when you're close to it, but when you step away, you can't even notice it. Adjusting the skim was very easy also. I like that there was an included hose to drain your cup. Great skimmer for the value.

This product is pure garbage, don’t be persuaded by the price tag, it will only cost you more in the end. Again, couldn’t be any worse. Right to the dumpster it will go.

The media could not be loaded. This is a foam machine! Super easy to adjust and very quiet. Don't let the price fool you, they perform better than the expensive big name skimmers. No regrets here!

Got it hooked up for my 65g. Compact footprint and smaller than my nyos and reef octopus which allows me more room to work around in my sump. Already pulling light stuff after just a day AND SUPER quiet. Can't hear a thing and very easy to control. Only thing is I wish the control know was higher up so I don't have to get my hand wet

The DC pump really puts out the froth!I have this on a big system and let it run without the plug for a week to break it in.The air intake at the top is novel; works well but I just leave it all the way openEdit: After running it for awhile draining into the sump, I’ve now started collecting the skimmate. This is a beast for such a small skimmer. It just chugs along making the thickest foamiest foam I’ve seen.Prior to this, I was running a curve 7, then a reefer-300.Edit: still going strong with over 6 months of continuous skimming.

Skimmer makes good bubbles...However, the motor is loud and i can hear it echoing throught my living room when its quiet. Its hard to tune and my water level in the sump stays at a constant level. When i grt it at the right hight, 30min to an hour later the cups starts to overflow.

For the price the build quality is excellent and it already came pretty much pre assembled. The top has a small air intake for ozone but Im using it for a recirculating CO2 scrubber. This skimmer is very similar to a Nyos skimmer in terms of features, quality, noise and size but for half the price!So far so good, its been running really quiet for a few hours and its already pulled a bunch of waste out of the water. I also love that it has a small footprint to save room in the sump.I will update my review after 1 month of use.
