Fundamentals of Condensed Matter Physics

I think it's well written, covering most essential parts of condensed matter physics, and explaining clearly. After I first borrowed it from the university library, I found it very helpful and that I would need to study it more carefully for a longer time. So I bought one to keep it myself.

It was as it was described. I am totally satisfied with the service too.

do not buy a digital copy of this book on amazon, you will regret it like I did. The images are tiny. The book is unreadable in this format.

I would say this is a really good textbook on cmp, and a great choice of topics. Unfortunately it is full of typos, so not good for beginners. The authors are researchers and too busy with their research to correct typos.

I bought it for my graduate physics course. This book is not well written has a lot of typos which makes it misleading sometimes. Some very complicated concepts are kind of jammed into very short chapters. In many situations, not much context is provided and concepts are not well developed, abrupt.

Exactly what I need

This book is so terrible in many ways for first time learner.1: It assumes some knowledge of solid-state physics.2: Its problems do not give enough information. You have to find them online! And sometimes it is not clear to me what exactly I need to search for to get the desired data.Use Ashcroft instead.

I took a graduate condensed matter class that followed this text in it's lectures and assigned exercises from it for homework. I found this book quite unclear and unhelpful. The sections do not go through material in a straightforward manner and never seem to follow any sort of linear argument or logic for deriving the results presented. I do not recommend this book for use as a class text or personal study reference.
