8Bitdo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller for Android devices, Bluetooth Mobile Game Controller with Hall Effect Joysticks and Hall Triggers (Black)

I've owned 8BitDo products before. Those were of excellent quality and function, but this controller?More of the same. A lot more.First, the unboxing. The packaging is nothing terribly fancy - nothing like, say, the absolutely extravagant experience of a ROG Phone 8 - but it is well-presented. Remove the slipcover and slide off the top and the controller is presented front and center within a clear baggie. The charging cable and minimalist documentation lay just under a thin tray.Next, build quality. This thing is put together very well and feels even better. It's all plastic, but the plastic is thick and durable-feeling; it gives off Xbox controller vibes (vibes amplified by my chosen white colorway). The hall-effect triggers and sticks (which ARE, in fact, held up on metal stems) are snappy and give just the right amount of resistance. The d-pad doesnt wobble and has adequate give. The face buttons feel good - again, think Xbox controller. The shoulder and back buttons are my only complaint, and its a small thing. The shoulders are very clicks, but they don't travel far. The back buttons are a bit easy to hit, but careful finger training can alleviate this. Finally, the telescoping - its so smooth. Glides apart easily, and gently snaps back to normal length.Finally, function. This controller is Bluetooth, which might turn some people off but I assure you - its just as responsive as a wired controller. I tested this on multiple emulators, including Dolphin and NetherSX2 and response was very similar to a console controller. There are also some handy features - the ability to digitally hot-swap the face buttons is a literal game-changer.In terms of negatives, there are few. The fit is one of them. Dont get me wrong, its fine - my S25 Ultra fit well inside a slim Spigen case, but I often had to push one end into place. It helps that there is a small lip near the front of the cradle, but I worry that larger cases might slip out. Finally, accessory availability is an issue. There are really no carry cases or grip cases made for this. It's a small thing, but I travel with a pretty loaded day bag and I'd rather the thing not get damaged bopping around in it.Overall, this is an excellent and - oh, right - AFFORDABLE mobile controller. It's made very well and functions very similarly to a console controller - kindle days feels like one, too. Do t let the Bluetooth connectivity throw you off - this thing will keep you gaming for a while.

Found this little jewel of a gaming controller and I must say I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Was searching for a good gaming controller after my old one was out. Searching online with so many options nowadays was a hassle but after looking around I stumbled upon this controller. Arrived quickly and in brand new condition. Pairing the controller was simple and easy. Responsiveness from the input buttons is near perfect and battery life is amazing. I have had no issues with latency or the controller disconnecting from my phone. I highly recommend this controller to anyone looking for a great and affordable option for gaming. My only hope now is that this product lasts for a long time as it has given me a great first impression. I do want to advise that I am using games with controller support and emulators that allow me to map my inputs as well. Using an android phone from 2024. Great job 8Bitdo!

The Good: This mobile controller feels good in my hands. I prefer the Xbox controller, and it very much does feel like an Xbox controller. There is no noticeable lag when playing games on my phone, even while playing cloud based games through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. My favorite thing about this is that my Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has a case on it, and even with the case on, it still fits snuggly inside of this mobile controller. I've tried other mobile controllers like this one, but I've always had to remove the case and just stick my caseless phone on it to play, so I love the fact that I don't have to remove the case from my phone to use this controller.The Bad: There is no pass-through charging on this controller, so even though you can plug in the controller and charge it while you play, you can't charge your phone at the same time. The only other thing I had an issue with is that the A button and the Right Stick are too close to each other. It's not a deal breaker in my opinion, it's just slightly annoying at times when your thumb rubs up against the Right Stick while playing a game.My Thoughts: Overall, I'd still recommend this controller. I love that I don't have to remove the case from my phone to use this. It's comfortable in my hands since it still feels a lot like an Xbox controller. I just know that if I need to charge my phone while using this controller, I have to use the stand on the case of my phone while it charges while using this controller as a stand-alone controller for it. I haven't used this controller for a long enough period of time in one sitting to know how long the battery lasts, so I won't comment on that. I think the longest I used it in one sitting before charging it was about 1 1/2 hours or so. Either way, this controller is still a good value with the positives far outweighing the negatives.

Comfortable to hold, although slightly more compact than a standalone console controller connectivity to Samsung S24 works great. Instructions included were a little basic. The buttons feel good and not flimsy. Latency is good enough to game on including Steam remote play. Controller is recognized by name and had button configuration already available for Steam remote play app.

Absolutely amazing controller. Even though I have a major complaint, it is my own fault for overlooking it when purchasing. So 5 stars.The complaint is, NO PASS THROUGH CHARGING. I understand it is BT but it seems simple enough to still allow pass through. Perhaps a spot provided so I can connect my charger even?If you are ordering this controller. Understand it is not the same as other controllers like the kishi and such. This is the equivalent of connecting a standard BT controller to your phone. The exception is, it has a spot for your phone and is extremely comfortable to hold.
