I've got a futon that is a pretty big and sturdy piece of furniture (not the old college futon that you might be thinking of!) However, as good as it is, you can feel a huuuuuuge 1.5 inch gap between where the couch cushion bottom meets the top when laid flat as a queen-sized bed. Eventually, when sleeping on it, you just roll into the gap and sort of get wedged there...annoying. I got a memory foam mattress topper for the futon bed, which is great. But, memory foam. Eventually, it just molds right to the surface, which is the gap! Not 30 minutes on top of it, I feel that huge gap again and roll and wedge right back in there. This is exactly what I need! This provides a sturdy gap-free surface for the mattress topper to sit. I no longer feel the gap! I'm pleased with this.
