Gwenpool, The Unbelievable Vol. 5: Lost In The Plot (Gwenpool, The Unbelievable (2016-2018))

Weird Cover Choice
Gwenpool was the best comic Marvel was running at the time of its run.So, the deal was that there's a Spider-man character named Gwen Stacy (played by Emma Stone) who was famous for getting thrown off a bridge because Spider-man's other love interest was becoming unexpectedly popular and there was a more recent storyline where Spider-man met a Gwen Stacy who became Spider-woman and had her version of Peter Parker die. It was a big event and there were a few dozen spider-people involved but Spider-Gwen stood out enough to gain her own series which had respectable sales. To further cash in on this, Marvel released a set of variant (hard to find if you're not looking for them) covers of Gwen Stacy dressed up as other superheroes. One of these was Deadpool (still a few months away from becoming a household name) where Gwen was lounging on a floatie in a Deadpool bathing suit. See, because it was Gwen"pool". That's why she doesn't have pants. This also took off more than anybody expected and a character based off this costume from a cover based off a reinterpretation of someone who died forty years ago and who was in no way affiliated with Gwen Stacy or Deadpool was introduced as a background player for Howard the Duck, who is most famous for torpedoing George Lucas' inter-Star Wars career. Through an extraordinary set of coincidences and fan favoritism, Gwen Poole got her own comic book which kind of flopped. In a way, lackluster sales were fitting for the title. With so many layers of intrusive reality there at the inception, Gwen's gimmick came to be that she was a normal comic reader transplanted to the Marvel universe and trying to survive by being someone readers wouldn't want to die. Under the supervision of the guy who wrote Dr McNinja and those artists who were really popular on tumblr a few years back, the book immediately became a metatextual rumination on superhero comics and the final volume finds Gwen knowing of her impending cancellation and learning to deal with that. The last two chapters are goodbyes to the versions of these characters cultivated over the book's lifespan which come together like the entire run had been scripted and planned out this way from the outset.Really, the entire series is inexplicably tight with the only real flab being the mid-run crossovers to bring in more readers. Even without the meditations on the meaning of children's entertainment, the books are funny, heartfelt, and wonderfully drawn. This is a book drafted with the intention of bringing a character's journey to a close and, while Doctor Doom does show up here, it's in a desperate ploy to escape Gwen's personal journey and I don't get why you would use the only cover in the entire volume where Gwen isn't the focus.

Marvel Made a Mistake
The Unbelievable Gwenpool was the first marvel comic I ever bought. I loved the character, the art (Gurihiru was the best), and the story. I loved it all. Gwenpool has an lovable personality, awesome powers, a cool look, and amazing friends (looking at you, Terrible Eye and, of course, Batroc). She's easily my favorite Marvel comic book hero. So, it was with a heavy heart that I read the final issue, but it was very well done, and ended in a way that felt right, even if it was far too soon. I only wish that instead of 25 issues (5 vols), it had gone on for at least 50 issues. It felt like she was finally on track, like she was getting a hang of the comic book world, and everything was ramping up.I truly do not understand Marvel's decision to cancel The Unbelievable Gwenpool, and I have to admit that I'm upset, and sad, that they did. My exact thought, as I finished this volume, was "Marvel, you monsters. How could you?" and "I feel like I just lost a friend." Marvel straight up made a mistake in canceling The Unbelievable Gwenpool.Anyway, I really hope there will be a hardcover collection of The Unbelievable Gwenpool released someday, and maybe, just maybe, we'll get The Unbelievable Gwenpool issue #26 and on. Here's hoping. To all that care, Gwenpool will be in "West Coast Avengers" comic, which I do plan on picking up, but only for the fact that Gwenpool is in it.Marvel, please reconsider your decision... You monsters.

Loved it
Such a surprise. I can't believe how much I connected to a 16 year girl. Gwen Poole is a great read and hopefully she'll be back in other series

A satisfying conclusion
A satisfying conclusion to what is currently my all time favorite comic book series. If you're tired of build up leading to disappointing endings, don't worry, this one does not. Hits all the right notes. I'm sad to see it end, but I'm happy to have read such a fun ending (and you can't have that if it goes on forever, can you? [we'll see her again in other comics, I'm told, so we'll see how other writers handle her]).

I love Gwenpool - sorry to see her go...
If you have followed Gwenpool so far, you have to finish the journey. I found Gwenpool fresh and original, a friend of mine can't stand her. It's a love or hate relationship and I think she pointed out, cleverly, how silly some of the comic book standards are. Gwenpool got the axe, along with several other female comic book titles.

Fitting closure to the saga.
I really enjoyed the run of Gwenpool comics. This ended her standalone series in the most Gwen way possible (she's totally an adjective now). Overall, her character grew and changed well. If you're considering starting here, don't. Go back and start from the beginning.

A great end to a great series
My only disappointment is that this was the end. I wish Gwenpool could go on forever. This comic series is so wholesome.

sad to see it go
couldn't believe how much a comic "cancellation" affected me. Knew the feeling and vocabulary only from TV-Shows. But in Comics, where there*s always one reboot after another and charecters are 60 years long in their teens... nope, didn*t get the concept of cancellations!gwenpool was terrible good, in my opinion. I am a diehard Deadpool fan (before the hype, although reynolds got it just right) and often found myself thinking, hat would I do if i could enter the Comic world? It was astonishingly translated! The fourth wall pieces, that included pageturning and imaginary holes in them... this is what i craved for in deadpool and never got to see! IGwenpool has always been the experience I couldn't have but always wanted, and at least I got to enjoy it through her.(I totally ould have started as a supervillain too and tragically failed and had gotten into the henchmen business, taha!)

Un poco caro en comparacion con otros tomos de marvel del mismo tipo
A pesar de venir protegido en su empaque, la primera pagina viene pegada a la portada en una esquina por humedad, aparte de eso esta en buenas condiciones
