I purchased this ice maker three months ago for my camper. It has been awesome to use and produces ice very quickly. I never noticed any bad smell aside from just the mild newness smell which quickly subsided. I use bottles spring water and have had great tasting ice with no calcium build up so far. It seems to be durable but time will tell as to how long it will last. It is a great size for one or two people however, I would get a larger one if I had need for 4 or more people. It doesn't take up too much space which is also a benefit in a camper where countertop space is limited, I would recommend.

If you like Sonic ice, this is the machine you need. We love it. It fills up our ice bucket in no time. It sits on our counter, not too big for the counter.

Love the Zafro 35.5lb/24hr Nugget (grey) ice machine!!! No complaints in regards to this counter top ice machine!! Was purchased in February, and it's been running 24hrs a day since it's arrival. Yes, it does have a buzzing/noise sound...but you get used to it. Sounds like a fan. It does shut off once there is maximum ice. As the ice melts, it will make more ice. It does make a re-booting buzz sound when this happens. **I DO NOT USE TAP WATER. I read up, that the best water for ice machines, is distilled water. So Distilled water it is. The ice tastes clean, and crisp!! Also purchased Descaling tablets for inner machine cleaning, for once a month cleaning. Great purchase/happy customer!!

I did a lot of research to select the right ice maker for my needs which was mainly cocktails. The nugget ice maker seemed to be the right choice. I was disappointed in this. It spit out the tiniest nuggets and slowly. The inside where the ice dispenses is not cold so the small nuggests would melt really fast. Once it did fill, I put the nuggets in my freezer they all completely froze together into one blob. I did return this and found another one that hopefully is better.

Its not loud by any means, but it isn't silent (60-70db)The ice tends to pile up so the hopper doesn't get to be completely full before it shuts offAs yet unknown, is how easy it will be to clean the inner parts and hoses (if any). Our GE was so difficult, I had to carve out an hour each month just to service it.
