Slim, Strong, and Stunning: Why the PITAKA MagEZ Case 5 is the Perfect Minimalist Choice
After using the PITAKA Magnetic Case (MagEZ Case 5 – Tactile Woven, Over The Horizon) for about a week, I can confidently say it’s one of the best lightweight and slim cases I’ve tried. I specifically chose this case because I wanted something that wouldn’t add noticeable bulk to the iPhone 16 Pro Max — and it has delivered exactly that. In hand, it almost feels as if there’s no case at all, while still offering reassuring protection. The “Over The Horizon” woven design is stunning. It immediately sets the case apart from more typical options, offering a visually interesting and highly premium look. The aramid fibre material feels smooth yet tactile, providing excellent grip without feeling rough or textured in an unpleasant way. The craftsmanship is immediately noticeable; it feels incredibly well-made.One of the standout qualities is the weight — or rather, the lack of it. The aramid fibre construction makes the case feel featherlight. When fitting it to the phone, it genuinely feels like applying a thin, precision-engineered shell rather than a bulky case. Once on, it’s almost imperceptible weight-wise.The fit and finish are flawless. I didn’t need to use the included fit pads — the case snapped on perfectly and holds the phone securely with laser-precise alignment around every edge, corner, and cutout. Every port, button, and speaker is perfectly centred and spaced, showing PITAKA’s high attention to detail.Compatibility with accessories has been flawless as well. I’ve tested USB-C cables, MagSafe adapters, and charging stands, and everything has worked exactly as expected without any issues.Although I haven’t dropped the phone yet, the case inspires a reasonable amount of confidence. There is a slight lip at each corner, allowing the phone to be placed face-down without the screen touching the surface. That said, the lip is subtle, so while it should protect against minor debris, heavier impacts or rough surfaces might still pose a risk.Another major positive: the case doesn’t attract dust, lint, or dirt, unlike many silicone cases I’ve used previously. After a week’s regular use, there’s been no buildup around the edges, and all gestures and button controls remain smooth and unhindered. I actually prefer the cutout-style camera control access to the typical button overlays many cases use — it feels more natural. In terms of durability, the case holds up extremely well. It doesn’t easily show scratches, and while it can pick up the occasional grease mark from eating or handling, a simple wipe easily restores it to a pristine state. What I love most about the PITAKA MagEZ Case 5 is how it manages to maintain the natural, premium feel of holding the iPhone itself while offering enough grip and protection for daily peace of mind. I wouldn’t change anything about it.Who I would recommend it for:Anyone who wants the look and feel of a “naked” iPhone but isn’t ready to go completely without protection will find this case to be the perfect solution. It’s an excellent balance of aesthetics, functionality, and premium craftsmanship.

Honest review
I don’t write many reviews, so for me to put a review here the product would have to be either really good or really bad. I am glad to say I think this product is really good.I update my phone every year as I use this as my main device especially when I am travelling around. For this reason, I always use a Pitaka case to make sure the phone is safe against drops, bangs and scuffs. I also always get the larger display models, due to my eyesight being bad so need a case that doesn’t add too much extra bulk and weight. With all this in mind I need a case that is light, slim and rugged. If it looks nice that’s a bonus! So, for the past several years I have always used Pitaka cases. They are the closest you can get to a naked phone while being confident that it will protect against damage (and I have had a few drops in my time which have always been ok).So, when I ordered my iPhone 16 pro max this was my go to case. My first challenge this year was which case to choose. Originally, they only made plain carbon fibre but now there are so many choices, which some fantastic designs.First thing though the cost, more than £50 feels like a lot for a case but when you are protecting a £1000+ phone it is a small price to pay for something this good. Especially as it keeps the phone safe meaning you can easily make that money back when you come to sell the phone, due to the protection it gives (at least that’s been my experience over the years). In previous years one of the biggest complaints about these cases was the limited protection on the top and bottom of the phone due to there being no case here. Personally, I liked that, and it was one of the original deciding factors on me using a Pitaka case. This time though, Pitaka have increased the coverage and created a case that goes fully around the phone. I think I still prefer the older style in all honesty, but I can see this protecting the phone better. Maybe after using it for a few months there will be no going back.ProsIts thinGood protectionLooks goodGreat design choices (even some new designs that glow in the dark!)The case feels good in the hand and not slippyConsExpensive when compared to some of the cheaper cases aroundFinal thoughts, why buy a shiny new expensive iPhone and then just cover it in a cheap cover with limited protection. It doesn’t make sense. If you only buy one accessory for your phone this year, give Pitaka a chance. I am sure you will be as impressed as I am and return to their cases year on year.FYI, I have also tried many of the other top brand phone cases as well over the years and this is the only one that I keep coming back to and use as my day to day case.

The only phone case you ever need!!
I’ve tried a lot of phone cases over the years, but nothing compares to the Pitaka iPhone 16 Plus case. Honestly, I’d rather have no case at all than use anything other than this one. In fact, I had a Pitaka case on my last iPhone too, and since then, I’ve been hooked. It’s by far the thinnest, yet strongest, case I’ve ever used. The design is sleek, lightweight, and just looks amazing on my phone. What really stands out is the protection it offers. My phone has never been damaged since I started using Pitaka, which is a huge relief! I genuinely love everything about this case—the look, the feel, and most importantly, the peace of mind knowing my phone is safe. Pitaka, you've got me for life. 10/10, would never go back to anything else!

Quality minimalistic case... at a price
Stylish looking case which offers 'some' protection from scratches and minor knocks. Fits the iPhone 16 pro max well and maintains the 'naked' feel. The quality appears to be very good on first impressions, and the sunset pattern is really nice. There is also some texture to the case to help with grip/handling.The MagSafe implementation is very good and the magnetic force is more than adequate for all of my needs (paired with an ESR MagSafe wallet and Belkin Boost Pro charging dock)The only vague negative is that it is relatively expensive given the alternatives available in the thin aramid fibre/kevlar field, especially the Benks offerings which are just as good (if you don't mind ordering from the U.S)If you are looking for a case to withstand drops and harsher use, this is not the case for you... but for everyday wear and tear in a sleek design it is definitely worth a look
