USAutomatic 520015 Solar Panel Kit with 5 Watt Panel for Sentry Gate Openers

I almost made the mistake of going with a Mighty Mule and was just about to purchase one when I checked the reviews and noticed horrible feedback on them. The deal breaker was that my neighbor had installed one a few months back and as I drove by his house I saw his opener hanging by zip ties to his fence. Needless to say, I went ahead and got the US Automatic despite the $300 price difference. Boy am I glad I did. The whole system looks twice as beefy as the neighbors broken Mighty Mule. The solar panel was needed as the gate is 1/4 mile from the house. Does exactly what it is supposed to do, keep the battery charged! Needless to say, my neighbor is trying to get his money back and step up to american built quality that actually works. Dont be a cheap skate and skimp on your opener, buy the good one the first time and save money, headaches and frustration. I am sure glad I did.

If you own a US Automatic gate then you need to buy this product. Lets face it - if you are looking at this product you probably live in a semi-rural environment and the last thing you want to worry about is having to get out of the car in a rainstorm because a downed power line took out your gate opener. When coupled with a $40 ATV battery (not included) you never have to worry about this again. I have had multiple visitors come in and out of my property in the dead of winter (when the days are shortest) and never worried about it running out of power, A true fire and forget piece of equipment.

I’ve got a small 12vdc battery for my gate opener. It doesn’t get used all that much, but I have had any problems with a dead battery since it was installed last year.

Cheap and does the job. Installation on any VERTICAL surface is fairly painless. Horizontal surfaces would need to run North/South and be close enough to the control/battery housing for included hardware to work. The mounting hardware and solution could have been a lot easier to attach on the panel side.

I wasn't sure if this was going to work during the winter time when there isn't a lot of sun. But even though we have had snow and ice it's working perfect. I only open the gate once or twice a day. but it works for me on the days that I've used it 4 or 5 times a day.

Dosen't make a noise but the little light goes on during the day.Would suggest mounting it on a tall (6'+) post to keep thieves out of reach.Write your name and ID on the back: reason same as above,

Works great. Started charging my gate opener battery the minute I plugged it in. The bracket to hold the unit is a little lightweight...causing the panel to vibrate on a windy day.
