New style panel/gate pad
I needed a replacement gate pad to replace my old one. This one is a little different than the other but, it works just the same. I easily programed it myself. I will mount it inside a waterproof box to help it last longer. Great customer service after giving them the wrong delivery address.

IMPORTANT - verify the operating frequency of your existing gate opener receiver before you hit the purchase button.
I seldom leave product reviews, but as this was quite a learning experience I am going to spend a few minutes hopefully saving others hours.First, before buying this keypad, open your gate opener control box and make sure that the receiver inside is a 433MHz device. Do not assume that just because the installer put in a US Automatics Patriot gate opener and circuit board that they also put in a US Automatics receiver. In my case, my receiver did not look anything like what was in my Patriot gate opener manual and it turned out to be a garage door opener receiver.Since I really wanted the keypad capability, I decided to buy a new receiver capable of dealing with the 433MHz keypad. Of course, that also means you need to replace your handheld transmitters to match as well. Evidently this is a common problem as US Automatics has a kit for about $90 that gives you everything you need to accomplish this upgrade. Look for this: LCR Solar Friendly Pack with Receiver, 2 Transmitters & More - USAutomatic 030220Apart from being $150 into a $50 project at this point, the bad news ends here. Installing the receiver is very easy and programming the transmitters is very easy - 10 minutes start to finish. Don't fear it - it does not require any electrical skills. The unit comes prewired into a connector and you just unplug the old and plug in the new. Now, the keypad. I chose this one instead of the heavier duty metal one they offer at 3X the price because my keypad is in a covered area that will not get rain or direct sun. This unit is light-weight plastic and I am skeptical as to its longevity if installed in harsh conditions. If I were to have one in the direct Texas sun I would absolutely spend the money on the more robust unit.Installation of the keypad is also easy, and the programming instructions are adequate. My only product issue was with the battery mount - it did not hold the battery in place very securely and after getting intermittent results I finally slapped some electrical tape over it to ensure it did not move. Problem solved.Overall my rating is based on being very happy wth the final product and very unhappy with the availability of information (the US Automatics customer line in particular seemed to take great pleasure in being rude). Also, at the time I bought this the receiver kit was unavailable on Amazon and I had to buy it from another supplier I found by Googling the part number.

Its a key pad, kindof a pain to setup, but after that its great
Its a key pad...once setup, it works great. Easy to use, no light though. Not sure on weatherproofing that some have noted issues with, as we have not had any rain yet. I did buy a motion sensor light on Amazon, LED/solar, that is small, but once installed will act as a light for the key pad, and as a rain shield. About 4x5in. Nice thing about this over a lighted keypad, as the sensor will lightup when the car is near, letting people know where it is.the device is not easy to setup, lots of button pressing. not bad, but it took a number of tries to get it working properly. Part of the problem, for security, is that the PIN for linking to the gate is SW, meaning not only do you have to set that up correctly, but also your access code(s). Not something to do without time to focus on it. My first time was at night after I installed the gate system and came home.Note, you have to use a 5 digit code for activating gate. Meaning, if you want to use a 3 numbers, you will have your 3 numbers, and then ##. (# is the fill in button for the 5 digits. On the code setups and such. It takes a lot of button presses to get things set. i.e. punch in master code, code for operation to perform, key in the code to use, then another number....all the while listening to beeps (1 or 2) to know if you have entered correctly to move to next step. Part of the issue I think, is if you make a mistake, clearing to start over I think either messes up the device or the user, and it took a number of attempts to get it right. You have to setup 3 codes before you can attempt opening the gate if it all went well - PIN, Master, access code. Any of those are messed up...well, you will need to figure out which one.

Love my USAutomatic entry system...
Love my USAutomatic entry system, the USAutomatic Sentry Push to Operate Button Wireless Transmitter works great through the forest at about 350' and the USAutomatic Sentry Wireless Keypad for Sentry Gate Opener at the gate is solid too. The USAutomatic Sentry 300 S Commercial Grade Automatic Gate Opener was a big investment for us that we had planned and researched for years. I knew I was not going to get the cheap brand X that is easy to find most anywhere but I came awfully close to getting one that is much more expensive but luckily I trusted Amazon reviews and now it's my turn to add to it so I can hopefully help someone else enjoy the luxury and peace of mind of having an entry system. I did everything myself, I have above average experience and knowledge of DIY but am not a contractor and I thought it was extremely well presented and the customer service was second to none - that's how they do with American made and backed products from Texas. I waited and waited, on the fence about what to spend my money on and I am so glad I did spend it on this. I bought it here on Amazon, see the verified purchase status up top, and eve thing from the shipping, arrival, installation instructions, looks, performance, and consistency - one year to date with no problems knock on wood - are THE BEST. Like I said, this was a major investment for us at our new house with a lot of build up and frankly a lot of worries about performance, expense, etc. and that's why I am so high on this product because I am convinced it cannot be beat, maybe rivaled but for what, $2,000 more dollars - no thanks!
