It was a little dry and tasteless. It had fruit and nuts in it, but it just didn’t have that moistness that I normally look for in a fruit cake.

It's not a bad fruit cake. I have had worse, I have had better. There was no best by date on the box, but the 11 times preservatives were mentioned in the ingredients made me confident that it was not going to hurt me if I only have a little.

Lots of preservatives and contains bioengineered ingredients.
I grew up eating fruit cake, the type your mother makes months in advance and stores in the cupboard to age it to perfection just in time for Christmas. So, I love fruit cake and I've had lots of different variations since. This one has some seasoning in it that I couldn't quite pin down, but I didn't enjoy the taste. And, looking at the ingredient list, it's unsettling how many preservatives and artificial ingredients are in it, including bioengineered.
