AT LONG LAST!!!!!!!
Wanted a simple coffee machine to NOT dominate the worktop surfaces. Have tried a couple of types but wasnot satisfied. Came across this item whilst searching and the spec was impressive but also a nice looker (boss approved). Unfortunately (at the time of ordering) a black version was not available so I went for the cream model. When unpacked I was very satisfied with the item and quickly got it ready for use. Setting up the system was relatively easy and the end product was good. I have since perfected he methods to suit my taste (strong decaf taste level 4) and am now very happy with the product. A decent amount of coffee produced (4/5 mugs), no huge thing dominating the worktop, no pods, just nice coffee when needed. I have since ordered a toaster and kettle to go with it. VERY satisfied. PHH.

Very reliable and a joy to use with Amazon paper filters.
I have had one for a year. It makes coffee making a pleasure and the result is better nd more reliable than a cafetière. It can be set up in advance and just switched on as require, say at the end of a meal. A lot of technology at a reasonable price. It does need an open space above it as the lid needs to be fully open to put the water in and set up the coffee. Will not fit under cupboards unless they have a high position. This one is a gift.

Good machine but has its foibles
First a small rant. My first filter coffee machine was a cheap bosch dripper. It was simple, cheap and lasted twenty years. It made hot coffee and kept it hot indefinitely. Since then, I've purchased 'several far more expensive devices that are not half as good nor lasted anywhere near as long. Personally, I cannot see any real technical difference in these machines to justify their ridiculous price - but hey ho!Rant over and back to my review.Purchased this machine because:1. It has one of the largest flasks available (1.8l) which we need with four adults in the house who drink mugs of coffee.2. It was a pour-over type which by all accounts makes a better coffee3. Its shape fits in our kitchen4. Its colour matches our other coffee equipment5. It's relatively good valueSo, after a weeks use here are my initial views, first the likes;1. Makes a good cup of coffee - I haven't had any plastic-tasting coffee as mentioned by others.2. Relatively quick to brew3. It accommodates the standard cup-cake filter papersNow the irritations;'1. No indicator to show how far to fill the reservoir. The black reservoir makes it hard to discern where the brim is.2. Coffee temperature may be inconsistent - I need to monitor this some more. Either way, it's not hot enough for my tastes - damn those euro-crats!!3. The keep-warm function runs only for 25 mins which is miserable. What is the point of this stupid requirement??4. The instructions regarding the keep warm function don't make sense.5. Never used the timer as we don't need it.So overall, so far I'm happy-ish. I'll have to keep my eye on the temperature consistency though.

Great filter coffee machine
We purchased this to use along wise our Nespresso machine and so far have not been disappointed. The setup is straight forward and once the time is set it is easy to change the coffee strength and get started. It has a nice sized permanent filter that’s easy to clean and can make up to 12 cups.It has a nice stepped cup guide inside to show have many cups it should make and easy to use buttons on the front. The timer is easy to use and once set, stays set until you turn it off.I have it set to start at 07:30 and generally by the time I’ve been for a run and get home, a pot is ready.Once it has finished, it activates the keep-warm plate for 25 mins ( this can be turned off but you cannot change the duration from 25mins).All in all, a great machine. It’s functional and looks good tooPros- easy to use- large volume- handy timerCons- n/a

Superb flavour
This is by far the best drip machine I’ve owned, easy to use, easy to clean, in terms of flavour it outperforms its more expensive rivals …. but you must break it in follow the manufacturers guide on setup then using cheap strong grounds make a pot of coffee do not drink!!! You tried some didn’t you🤮. To get rid of plasticy taste Remove filter basket and the filter holder put in a suitable sized container grounds and all then pour over the coffee from pot add some hot water but make sure it’s covered leave overnight if possible then rinse. Now make your first pot of great coffee.

Great cup of coffee
I am really pleased with this machine. I knew this was the model and brand I wanted as my daughter has one and I particularly like the ability to select the strength, preferring a pretty strong cup of coffee especially as I use decaffeinated. The keep warm function is great with the count down so that you know how long it has been sitting there. I find that with the amount of coffee I use you need to allow a few minutes on the warmer after the filtering has finished just to let all the water soak through. I did decide to buy filter papers because I didn't want to be washing the grinds down the sink as this is a bit messy. I am so glad I did because not only is it easier to just pop the filter and grinds in the bin/compost but the coffee really does taste better (as one reviewer of the filters stated). Because the flavour is so much better and as this machine requires the cupcake shape filter it would be helpful if Morphy Richards gave the size of papers required so that purchasing them is much easier and less of a gamble. Otherwise though happy with purchase, would recommend and it looks good in the kitchen.
