A lot larger than expected. Really well made. I got it for a rain drum but it can also be played with mallets(provided) and the booklet has little songs with directions on how to play them. How cute. Since it wasn’t raining when it arrived, I tested it with the water hose. It sounds really cute and relaxing. It comes with two mallets, extra numbers, and a mallet holder as well as a little instruction, FAQ booklet. I really like it and cannot wait until our first rain storm. Made very well and durable. I got the black one. It also comes in a cute little storage bag and a yellow cleaning cloth. I put a pencil in the photo to compare the size of the mallets and my hand as a comparison to the size. Pretty cute little thing I never knew I needed!

I originally got this rain drum for my son because he had asked for one and he loves to play music and I love the sound of rain drums, it's so relaxing. This drum is the perfect size, nice and sturdy. It came in a black bag, with a music book and mallets. I love how versatile it is whether outside in a garden, on a patio or indoors it adds a touch of serenity wherever it's placed.

For Christmas, I decided to get two of these mini 6 inch, steel-tongue drums in deep green; one for each for my grown daughters in their 20’s. Both are creatives, and just love making and listening to music!You can choose to play the drum with the two mallets included (along with their rest stand), or with your fingers. There are 8 notes which can be tuned by either slightly lifting or pressing down on each individual “tongue”.Even better, it comes with an excellent instruction guide/music book with songs to play. The final items which are thoughtfully included are a strip of stickers with duplicate numbers for each note, and a great durable black bag to store it all.The only “odd” thing I noticed was there is no number “8” note on the drum. Instead, there are two numeral “1’s” but one has a “•”dot above the number “1”. After pondering it, I realized one of those notes is probably just an octave higher than the regular “1” note. It’s really no problem once you figure that out.😊This cute drum has three round rubber “legs” making it very stable. The drum is sturdy and well made with a good weight to it, but it’s hollow inside as it should be.It’s well powder coated with a waterproof and scratch resistant paint that protects it from heavy usage and rusting. In the long run, this will help keep the tones sounding beautiful for a long time. Therefore, you can generate your own music, or use it outdoors as a “rain drum” for nature to make her own song. Now how freaking cool is that!There have been various studies showing that vibrations of certain sounds can actually help heal our minds and bodies. In fact, using “sound baths” was a popular treatment in VA hospitals during the 1940’s.The ethereal tones which this drum emanates can easily be incorporated into a meditation session. Humming or chanting along with the notes can help you relax too.Overall, this little steel drum is an object which has the magical ability of holding your interest, reducing your stress, and sparking your creativity for hours! I would highly recommend it as an unusual and thoughtful gift for anyone, at an extremely affordable price! They are a big hit with my kids, and I’ll probably get one for myself as well.

It rang when my pup was barking beside it, it makes a lovely sound when erasers are put inside and the unit shaken, and of course when tapped with the sticks included. My almost 3 year old grandson enjoyed it and took it home. We tried different ways to see if it would sound good which was fun in itself. For the price it’s great. The weird thing is that instead of the number 8 sticker there was another 1…? The clear tape comes off to reveal a beautiful gold number underneath, I just wish the numbers had included an 8.

Was amazed at how well this was made and is exactly functional as described. Had major thunderstorm last night and family played with it for the "rain god" and low and behold the rain drops came down! Had fun with it for hours until the storm faded away! This was worth the cost for all the enjoyment we all got from it. The tone is beautiful and so clear!

My youngest is 18m and has shown great interest in music. This little drum was the perfect instrument to start him on. Its beautiful and makes relaxing sounds. A great quality drum at an affordable price to help continue influence his musical drive.
