Unveiling Shaan’s Brilliance: A Mother's Journey in Autism and Hope

This is an incredible story of a mother's journey with a special needs child. In this book, she describes how she learned about her son's challenges with autism and how difficult it was to get him help from the system designed for children with special needs. However, Dr. Hyder persisted in providing her son with help and an environment that was beneficial for someone with his condition. Having the right kind of resources made them realize that her son, a non-verbal autistic boy, has taught himself to read and spell but he is also a math wiz!

Dr. Hyder gives us a glimpse inside her complicated life as a mother with a severely autistic son. It’s incredible to read about all of the challenges she has faced and overcome, including battling breast cancer. It’s amazing that they were able to find a way for Shaan, who is nonverbal, to communicate and I especially enjoyed the poems and dialogue that were in Shaans own words. I do think this book is an absolute must read for any parent with a special needs child, but I personally have a healthy 7 month old and I still found this book to be a great read! The resilient Dr. Hyder reminds us to be an advocate for our children, never ever give up hope, and to never doubt their capabilities.

Dr. Hyder and Shaan’s story is a true inspiration of autism and hope. Their heartfelt journey packed with lots of pertinent information every parent must know. We’ve known for decades our children can community despite being non-vocal, and Dr, Hyder and her son are another testament to the truth.

What an inspiring book,really gives an insight into a family’s challenges and their strength

The book is great! The struggle Dr. shazia had to go through amazing parenting everything about her life loved it.

Shazia has been so honest in this book about being a mom to Shaan. She takes us through the many lows of being a parent to an autistic child, but demonstrates how high the highs can be in contrast. She has so much love and compassion and also such resilience and strength. Whether or not you have an autistic child, this story of Shaan growing up is a really wonderful read. I couldn't put it down and took photos of different bits to send to grown up friends who think they might actually be autistic, but haven't been diagnosed, as I recognised behaviours of Shaan's that I have seen in them - especially the intuition.

Shazia shows throughout this book her love and dedication to Shaan, while being a Mum, Wife & Doctor. The struggles she faces while fighting for the best for Shaan, juggling all the other areas of her life at the same time. I'd definitly recommend the book.
