Gemini XGA-3000 Pro Power Amp
Hi I'm Kman,When I first purchase the XGA-3000 I did a lot of research on the different lines of lower priced power amps. I am just starting my first mobile karaoke business and learned the right amp can be crucial to my set up. The Gemini XGA-3000 got great reveiws (4 stars), but almost as important published its specs on power to the speakers in dbs and rms. Anyway the following kinda stuff talks real loud to me:Warranty: 2 YEARXGA-3000True Power from the Professionals! The new XGA SERIES Professional Power Amplifier comes designed to deliver the maximum wattage and amount of power to any speaker. Each XGA amp is durable and lightweight, and offers an unmatched value in their class. With their powerful, reliable performance, the XGA Series amps easily handle any amount of usage and can deliver deep pulsating lows.Features:3000 Watt IPP* High Power output to drive professional loudspeakers without clipping2 x 150 RMS @ 8 ohms stereo2 x 200 RMS @ 4 ohms stereo1 x 400 RMS @ 8 ohms bridgedFront-to-rear airflow and cooling fan for thermal stability and reliabilityXLR and ¼" (6.5mm Jack) balanced and RCA unbalanced inputsLimiter circuit switch for amp output protectionStereo, Parallel Mono and Mono BridgeVariable speed fan for low noiseComprehensive front panel indicators including signal, clip, protect3 Speakon outputs for Channels A/B/Bridge5-way binding banana plug channel outputsBridge control switchDC output protection and Short circuit protectionFrequency response 10Hz - 50kHz at 1.5 dBGround lift switchTotal Harmonic Distortion: Less than 0.1%Input sensitivity & Impedance: 0.77vSignal to Noise (20 Hz - 20 kHz) > 90dBInput Impedance: 20K ohmsTHD @ 20HZ - 20KHZ - 0.1 %Damping factor: >350power, protection, clipping, and bridged LED indicatorsAC line fuse protectionThermal Cutoff Protectionpower up/down protectionslow start protection115/230V switchableDimensions: 19 x 13.8 x 3.5 inchesweight: 19.04 poundsWell I looked at a lot amps under $250 and this one had the rep and the specs I looked for-so I got it.My testing reveiw:I have it in line with my PC with 620G XHD, my CAVS DVD 105G-multi/CDG/USB-XHD/MPEG4/HDCD player, my Gemini MM-3000 3 mic/5 channel Mixer, and my Gemini PA-7000 PreAmp, driving two 15" KCH subs, four 8" mids, and two 8" singers floor monitors. So far I haven't turned the PreAmp OR the Amp up more than 1 o'clock and I AM GETTING SOME SERIOUS BIG AWESOME CLEAR SOUND WITH ALMOST NO DISTORTION. This is with it set up with a balanced 8 ohms per speaker setup side, so that's the lowest power setting of 150 rms. Of course I don't want to push it. For another $170 (or less)I plan to get another for output B on my PreAmp, for speaker upgrades to larger venues. That'a my review. For the money as a no frills Pro Amp I think it gets the job done great if you set up your system correctly and have a good mixer and PreAmp. 5 stars from me.Kman 4/16/11

A GREAT AMP for the Mulla!
Need a power amp? We did to run our passive monitors and this amp SMOKES! Not too heavy, has a powerful fan, and the great twist connectors. I had to buy new speaker cables to connect to it, but man, does it ROCK!!!! My only "complaint" is the fan is rather loud. But, when you use it you don't hear the fan, so "no harm, no foul." I heartily recommend this amp for anyone wanting a PA amp or even a stereo amp for a sound system. Great amp and a GREAT PRICE!!!! Gemini is on my radar now concerning sound equipment. Go ahead, take the plunge. You'll be glad you did!!!! PS. Don't buy an OPEN BOX amp. I did and had to return it for a CLOSED BOX one. OPEN BOX means that something is probably suspect with that one. CLOSED BOX is the ONLY WAY to go!

It gets the job done in the practice room.
It’s not a bad unit. But ..I would pull one of the zeros off behind that 5000. Running 2-15’s 2-12’s and a assortment of horns. In the practice room, not bad.. anything more than that you might need to kick it up to a Crown /Peavy Mackie ect. I had a Pyle around the same style of this unit halfway up is equal to this at 3/4. So it’s light duty. in the practice room it gets it done. It will clip easy. If you’re using it for practice studio, I wouldn’t be afraid of it. We’ve been using it for a few months and it’s great.. when it comes to power amps you can’t beat the price of this thing. Application depending.

DO NOT BUY
I am very disappointed. It is not NEAR 5000 watts. I run about six PA amplifiers, and use everything from a PEAVEY 3000, a 8000 18 sub, as well as some 'cheap' 100 watt heads. Even the 100 watt head I use for the monitors has more power than these amp. Extremely disappointed. I destroyed part of the styrofoam, broke it taking the amp out of the box, or I would return. DO NOT BUY THIS AMP.

Amp has weight, both in pounds and WATTS
The positives:* I have owned over 10 amps so far.* This unit is by far is the best to date.* Sound quality is superb* Low noise though system at idle (very important)* Matched to the correct speakers, it will ROCK OUT*I now rock 2 Gemini amps,*I will say adding a proper EQ really adds quality. -However don't go cheap! I purchased Rockville EQ's and it was a waste. They produced a hum at idle that drove me nuts. Now running all DBX EQ units. Far superior!----the negatives:* I purchased this to replace a similar wattage unit, should have done it sooner* The weight of the unit, but what do you expect form a pro amp?* Does not fit well in a standard rack setup. I wanted it on the bottom due to its larger size, however the way the rack ears are required it to be the higher amp in the lower case. Not a big deal, just a little thing* biggest negative is you don't have one!

Ok for a starter unit but overall a cheap and weak unit
If you are starting out with a band and saving money, then this is a good solution for you. If you have a weekly gigging band playing professionally 3 times a week, this is a waste of your money.Docked star for noise on it. This unit is loud…super loud the fans sound like running one of those handheld Dustbuster vacuums.Docked a star for performance. This unit is weak. Have to have knobs cranked almost 3/4 of the way up all the time to achieve decent results. Though it was just the mixer we were using so we had our sound technician play with it and they didn’t like it either.

Poor Design Poor Performance Extremely Noisy Fans
Having had a lot of Gemini amps in the past i thought this would be a good fit for my home vinyl dedicated room. Oh How wrong I was, turned it on, the fans are unacceptably noisy, so much so they overshadow any low volume you may want to use. the output power was less than My old GeminiGPA 3000. As a pro audio guy for over 40 years the manufacturers have lost their way. The only time this amp could be used is in a dedicated amp room away from the main music source, not sure if the one i had was faulty but the output power was extremely low. Save yourself time and trouble avoid this.
