A solid 4.5
Honestly the quality and accuracy is there. I really like the carbide foot will ensure that it won't get chew up by bits and ensures it will remain accurate. I tested it against my caliper and it's on point. The only reason I'm not giving it a 5 star review is I wish it had graduations down to 1/64ths. Anymore than that is overkill tbh. I can still achieve such measurements by setting it up with the caliper so it's a small gripe.

40 Bucks Should put the Line in the Right Spot
Out of the box and tested - and I'm happy to say she's got a home. She'll be living, hanging on a nail, on the side of my main router table. I ordered this depth / height gauge to take the place of a combination square to set the height of router bits in router tables. She's perfectly suited for that task. This is not a precision machining height gauge; it's not made to measure tenths or thousands. There is no fine adjustment calibration. It will work well for my needs on router tables.Unfortunately, the sliding height mechanism does not have an etched 'zero' line. There are two lines about an eighth inch apart – one says up and one says down. Mine is accurate just a smidgen above the down line; but smidgens and eighth inches aren't helpful to me on a semi precision tool. Consequently, this is a 3 star review for a tool that will be very useful for me. I will sand off the factory lines and etch my own line. It's a shame – cause it's a good tool – somebody just got lazy. Mine will be modified and I will like it, but I shouldn't have to modify it.3 Stars RUITOOL Height Gauge Depth Gauge~ Thanks for Reading - Have an Incredible Life! ~

Accurate height gauge that is quick and easy to set.
This is a simple tool that is intuitive to use. It works great for setting the height of table saw dado blades or router bits. The scale is in 1/16 inch increments with fractions given every 1/4 inch. The marks are easy to read and they are very accurately placed. Using my calipers to check, it was easy to align the level ruler with the scale marks to achieve accuracy to within 1/100th of an inch of the indicated distance. The build quality is good. The main body of the tool is cast aluminum, while the leveling plate and hardware are stainless steel. Both sides of the tool have a scale in inches. I would have preferred if one side were in millimeters (apparently a second tool must be purchased for an mm scale) . The leveling plate is attached to the clamp body by two screws, which are slightly countersunk. When measuring it is necessary to avoid measuring off the countersunk screw area, but the level plate is long, so that is easy to accomplish. I have found it to be a useful tool and am glad to add it to my metrology arsenal.

Description inaccurate, no metric readout
The media could not be loaded. When shopping online, descriptions and images need to be accurate. The description of this height gauge states that it has both inches and metric scales. This is not true. Both sides of the gauge are in inches. Subtracting two stars for incorrect information given. The pieces of this gauge seem to be made of sturdy and good quality materials. The fit of the slider in the angle piece is pretty loose. The mechanism to tighten the slider to the angel is primitive.I would not describe this gauge as "precision". I'd say the description of "precise to the millimeter" is accurate. This is an ok tool for rough woodworking. But by no means a precision tool, and the description states something the tool does not provide (metric readout). With the correct description and not over-selling the precision (and application) this could be a 4 to 5-star item.

Overall great, wish it had metric on one side instead of inches on both sides
I keep finding odd uses for this and it is super useful when you need to know the height of something or to be able to repeat a specific height on multiple items. The screw adjustment is easy to use and it holds its position well. It uses a plastic washer that may deform and break over time but would be easy to replace. I like that it has marks to use for measuring both height and depth (it accounts for the plate thickness). It’s well built out of aluminum and steel. This thing is great for routers, saws, and drills.

Very accurate. No metric measurements.
I checked for flatness against my granite block and it seems perfectly flat. What appears to be a slight gap in the picture isn't a gap. It's just the chamfer on the side. I used this gauge to measure a 0.9845 inch (25 mm) reference and found that it shows the height as just under 1 inch, so it seems pretty accurate. Measuring the height of router bits with rollers is a bit more challenging with the setup, but I don't think there are any better tools than this. I had to remove the top shield from my router to get this gauge to fit. I do wish it had metric though.

Handy to have.
This is a well made depth gauge. I should get many years of use from this.Fit finish and construction are very good and it is clearly marked on both sides.Operation is easy.I did double check the accuracy of this against a set of calipers and this appears to be spot on. No complaints. In the first paragraph of the description they say this is an "altimeter". Nope. It's not an altimeter. Apparently whoever wrote the description has no idea what an altimeter is and at that same time it's clear that nobody proof read this.Buyers count on accurate descriptions and this 'altimeter' thing is clearly misleading. For that mistake I have deducted a star.Overall, this is a good tool and I like it.
