I bought this book based on an excerpt I read on a blog about conscious tattooing and was blown away. Very insightful and analytical from a holistic point of view. Would love to connect with this author as Im a conscious inker and budding author.

Lisa Barretta does an outstanding job of explaining away any doubts, misconceptions, or questions you may have about tattoos. I dove into this book wide-eyed and wondering what meanings could possibly lie behind a simple tattoo. Do you know the various meanings that a tattoo on your left hand vs your right hand could have? How about a tattoo on the front of your body vs the backside of your body? I had no clue, but I am well informed now! It was an easy read and shed a whole new light on the meanings of tattoos, for me. I highly recommend this book for anyone with, or contemplating new body art today!--Ken Murray, Author, "ON PARR"

I really enjoyed this book. I couldnt put it down! Her insights are illuminating. The thoughtfulness and clarity of explanations on how the whole process of tattooing works and how it imprints on our soul and lives is amazing! I am so glad I came across this book and I hope anyone and everyone ever considering a tattoo comes across this book first. Loved it!

Excellent read for the newbie or those who already have tattoos and someone interested in getting a tattoo. Great information on what should works best for you explanations on symbols colors feeling comfortable with an artist and shop. Excellent job Lisa in-depth look at so many different meanings and styles of tattoos

Finally, we have a book that dives deeply into what's going on underneath the mind, the emotions and the skin of tattoos. Nothing could be more significant than becoming conscious, mindful, and aware of what we do and why we do it. This book is a must-read for the blank canvasses among us, as well as for those already coloured, patterned and inked.I intend to give this book as a gift to a tattooist that I will begin working with in the near future. After reading this book you will not view tattooing through the same eyes again, and that's a very good thing.

I was excited about this book as I was confident of the spiritual significance of tattoos. Although I can see where she is coming from and agree with her position, the author repeats so much information so many times over the book that I had to start skipping pages. Sometimes it's be nearly in the same words so it begins to get quite frustrating and feel sloppy, like it had not been proof read and that no new ground was being covered. Quite a frustrating read overall.

Really interesting, easy to read and a good reference tool highlighting how creating the art of tattoo on the body embeds energy, into the person wearing them. A good tool for the meanings of various images and symbols and archetypes.
