Fantastic unit with an abundance of features to enhance your experience
Very pleased with this product. It looks good and everything is well laid out. It comes with a neat little remote control. It tucks away neatly into a corner, so takes up hardly any room. A bonus is the top mounted USB outlet that you can use for charging devices, or use for playback if you have a compatible device. (Rather than having to use the 3.5mm input at the front). The only downside, and it is only very small, is that the sound output could be better, but with 5 watts per channel I was not really expecting to be deafened. Other than that, I cannot fault the unit. I saw some reviews stating that the mechanism of the CD Player was noisy but mine can barely be heard even when playing quiet passages. Some said that tuning the radio stations proved unnecessarily complicated. My experiences was that as soon as I turned on my unit it went straight into Auto Tune mode and did it all for me, so why some people had problems is beyond me. Setting up the radio channel pre-sets was easy. Setting up the alarm function (There are 4 of them if you should ever need that many) was simplicity itself, and I like the way you can set up each one them for either CD; Radio (To a channel of your choice), or beeper: along with being able to set the individual CD playback and Radio volumes for each as well. The 'Sleep' function is great and I like the way it progressively reduces the volume over the space of around 15 seconds just before switching off. Also, the alarms do not immediately come on at whatever peak volume you have set, will but phase in over several seconds. All in all, I would thoroughly recommend this unit as I find it a 'PURE' delight.

Another great product from Pure
I have to say I am genuinely amazed by the amount of low scores this great product has received. I am somebody who is very fussy about the electronics I own and use, and they have to be good to earn my enjoyment. Maybe I have been lucky with my pure purchases, as this is the second Pure product I own and the third I have purchased (I bought a pure evoke as a kitchen radio for my folks) and every one of them has met expectations, and in the case of the Pure Chronos it has exceeded them.Firstly, the quality of build and the sound quality for the size of the unit is utterly superb. It isn't Hifi but it is very impressive, with just a small tweak needed to raise the bass and treble to +2 to bring out the sound and fill the room and job done. On DAB and CD sources I was able to go to pretty much maximum volume without the casing vibrating or distortion from the speakers which is impressive for the size and price. All the buttons feel solid to use and the unit does not move about when you press them on the front, because there is decent weight and quality to the unit.Secondly (and this is why I bought an Evoke for my folks) is the simplicity of setting it up (a common feature of all pure products I have used), especially if you are used to conventional clock radios. It really is this simple. Plug it and the clock sets itself, the DAB tunes itself and you have to do is set your alarm clock time. If you are used to navigating an average manufacturers built in car stereo you will find this very easy. Without the using the manual, I was able to set the backlight setting, wake up volume, source to wake up to and set the tone controls to my liking, in short after initially plug in, The Chronos was 100% ready for use in less than 5 minutes.Thirdly the features are superb. Inputs for MP3 machines or memory sticks, separate alarm times for weekdays and weekends (how many of us have been woken up early on Sunday because we forget to turn to the alarm off, or been late on Monday because we forget to turn it back on again!), or just daily alarm if you wish, a choice of four sources to wake up to... the list goes on...I don't work for Pure or have vested interests in the company, nor is this a fan over rating the product to redress the critical reviews, I am genuinely impressed by the Chronos and would recommend one without hesitation. One of the easiest 5 stars I have ever awarded.

PURE Chronos CD Series II, DAB/FM/CD Stereo Clock Radio
Superb. The sound quality, which is paramount for a radio is excellent, also bass and treble are independently adjustable. It has a nice solid feel about it and even though I've already lost the remote down the back of the bed-side table I think it will last. There have been a number of comments about the brightness of the clock, and I took a chance on this. There is a setting that automatically reduces the display brightness when the room gets dark (i.e. when you switch off the lights) and this does the job well enough for me, no brighter now than my old simple AM/FM Sony clock radio. You can store a number of pre-sets that you scroll through, there are no numbered buttons for quick access, but the process adopted is suitable, I don't use more than four stations usually, and based on how often they are changed numbered buttons would be a waste of space. The only downside I have encountered so-far is the fiddly nature of setting the alarm. If you have one time each day then this is not going to bother you. I work shifts and have to set all sorts of times and there are quite a few button pushes needed, by no means a deal breaker but fiddly none the less. I would still buy this radio knowing what I know, and don't forget, the sound is its best feature. If you are moving from a standard clock radio you will be impressed, I was.UPDATE:- Almost every night I try and turn the volume down, it's just that bit too loud as I sleep on the side of the bed next to it, the volume control is of a digital type and the volume lowers in gradual steps, the next one down would be ideal but its then when the sound goes off all together, during the day it's no problem, only when everything has gone quiet at night and your hearing gets a bit more sensitive. This bugs me every night, but doesn't stop me sleeping, and we do like the radio on, but if I were designing one it would go a tad lower.
