Well written
This is a well written book. It was part of a reading list for a Chakra yoga and meditation course I was doing by the co author Katrina. I will definitely be referring to this book often. Alan Finger is clearly well educated in tantra yoga and has an excellent way of making you understand. I couldn’t grasp the concept of chakras before reading Alan’s and Katrina’s work.

What can I say?
I'm using the book every day! The daily sequence has became my home practice routine (I do vary - e.g. add sun salutations to the standing poses or instead of doing bridge just once add wheel etc) and the meditation practice is indispensable part of my mornings (don't need the CD anymore :) )

Chakra Yoga thoughts from a yoga teacher
Even if you only practise Hatha Yoga, just doing the postures you will have come across the word Chakra which means wheel in Sanskrit but has a whole depth of meaning to a yogi. What I liked about this book is that it didn't make things complicated. Yes, there are many systems out there. Yes, if you read up on one system it will tell you one thing and another will tell you something different. But you can decide to stick to the way the Chakras are presented in this book and enter the world of chakra meditation that comes on the CD and just enjoy. There are some inconsistencies. Some of the postures mentioned within the chapters for a specific chakra are then shown against another chakra in the workouts at the end. But that is a small thing as many postures work on more than one area of the physical body and there is no reason why similarly if you accept the concept of the chakra energy centres, one posture should not benefit more than one chakra. As an end of term treat/ experiment? I played the Chakra Meditation CD for my classes and many requests for us to play it again were made.

Relevant, practical, insightful
An accomplished yogi shares his knowledge of the chakras with both practical and more poetic, esoteric descriptions. Helpful, relevant postures to work with the chakras, as well as descriptions of the more physical and anatomical areas of the body associated with the chakras, complete with some small anatomical drawings and descriptions.

A little basic for me as I am a Yoga Teacher but has added somewhat to my knowledge and defintely very good if you are a beginner or fairly new to Yoga. I do like the way the postures are written about - very clear and easy to follow.
