Shocking condition
This was brought for our Vaillant boiler in our newly purchased Lodge. My husband wanted something to connect so we could regulate the temperature before we go.This arrived quicker than expected and took it up with us. We think it was an old box lying around and just sent off. The batteries were so old they were brown and the display was a joke!Flimsy and for the money was pure crap. Have had to make a journey to the post office to return .

Smart control?
Better than the non-smart Vaillant thermostat this replaced; however not as easy to use as other smart thermostats I have owned previously- sadly my current boiler/cylinder combination could not be controlled by other smart thermostats without major re-wiring.However this is nonetheless a step in the right direction for taking greater control of your heating and hot water.

Rarely connects
We opted for one of these, rather than one from Nest. I wish I hadn't. As a thermostat it's ok, but i like to keep an eye on it from my phone and it rarely connects, which was the reason we got it in the first place. If i restart it from the socket then it will be fine for a bit. Not reliable at all.

About Wi-Fi connection lose.
I am writing in response to those who are having trouble with Wi-Fi connections with their Vaillant vSmart thermostat.Make sure that the Gateway/Hub is at least 1 Metre away from the boiler or any other bulky metal object, this will seriously impair the signal of both the router and the Gateway/hub exchanging information, I have a smart lamp in my downstairs hallway that has a similar problem, the router is upstairs just above the lamp, and the cure was to move my router 1 or 2 centimetres, that’s all it took, now everything is great.{Edit: I am not suggesting that you have to move your router as such, {it may well work} but as you are installing the Gateway /Hub, try that in different locations, such as a different facing wall or higher up the as examples}I have had my Vaillant vSmart Thermostat for over a year now, and I think it is a great device (not purchased from Amazon) and I use it in conjunction with 6 Meross radiator smart thermostats (purchased from Amazon, with 3 being purchased recently), which effectively Zone my rooms, last year I calculated that the vSmart and the 3 Meross radiator smart thermostats I had then were saving me at least 2pounds 50 pence a day (I have a smart meter fitted, so can keep an eye on my usage), okay not in summer, but this year the combination will be saving me a bunch more of my money, so don’t just blame the device for the problems, try to adjust your environment to fit them in, its technology, not magic.I also agree with the sentiment about heating prediction feature, it did start the boiler up earlier and earlier each morning, although this may have been fixed by now as there has been a couple of app updates since I turn that function off.By the way, the vSmart can be set to adjust the strength of the flame, a bit like on the cooking stove, simmering the water as opposed to boiling it, when used with heating prediction feature, (So that is why it will start the boiler early, to build the heat up gently, and that also worries some people, as the boiler runs for longer, but using less gas, again, simmering) I’m not sure about how I’m using it now with that function turned off, maybe not, but it’s still saving money, (I think I will turn it back on again, even I am getting something out of writing this, lol.)But all in all, I would recommend all the devices I have mentioned here, especially with the hike in fuel price and those to come, invest to save, if prices keep going as they are, you will be glad you did, I certainly am.I originally gave a five star rating, but have now dropped it at least one star, all that I stated before is correct, BUT! The server goes down an awful lot recently, leaving you unable to control the thermostat via the app, you can still use the boiler by the controls on the thermostat/display, but that isn't useful if you want to remotely control it if you are away from home, still a good device, but they should sort out the servers.

Don't buy
It looses connection all the time and defaults to heating on! Waking up to a sauna or coming back from a weekend to find you boiler has been on the whole time is horrendous. It rarely lets me make any changes like turn the temp up or down without telling me it can't because something is wrong with my router.... What ever. No overide function.
