Has utility but not what you think.
Don't let the range of this thing fool you. It will drop in an extra 20dbi of signal across a wide range of frequencies but if you think it does it cleanly, you're dreaming. It's all garbage in/garbage out. Below UHF any antenna bigger than a paper clip that you feed into this thing will result in a mess of harmonics and noise even if you're using high dynamic range receiving equipment. For something like a handheld with a wide open front end you'll probably get a lot of copies of the biggest signals and their mixing products all over the place. Being that I have the lower frequencies covered by real antennas, I really was looking at this to amplify signals above 2.4 gHz and, amazingly, it does that well. I have connected 3dbi and 6dbi gain antennas to it for 2.4 gHz and shipped the output into a TinySA Ultra and it does a decent job of displaying the wifi and bluetooth traffic around me. My 5 gHz coverage is iffy on the TinySA Ultra but the amplifier works there as well despite the crap linearity on the receive side.The rechargeable battery is a nice touch for this....if this was offered with a better designed, lower gain amplifier it would be a great tool for lots of things. Probably the most negative thing about it of all is the power switch. When this is in the circuit and you switch if off, there's no signal pass through. Who thought that would be a good thing? The cost and complexity would have hardly budged if they had done the right thing in that regard....A/B comparisons are a solid tool and they missed the boat.

More than I expected
Nice little 20dB amp with battery so can be used without a power supply and hence no chance of noise from the power supply. Wish they had a 30dB and 40dB versions.

No specs/paperwork
No paperwork means you have no way of ensuring correct usage - is it for receive only or can it be pit in line with the transceiver antenna? As such, not going to try it on my equipment, just in case.

Not to spec
This is a reasonably good preamp that is also wide band. The maximum benefits seem to be in the 1MHz-600Hz range. Exhibiting the most gain there, being at the rated spec.I did a broad spectrum analysis of the gain (S21) and calibrated the system just prior measurement. The resulting picture of the spectrum analyzer is shown in the picture. The amp was powered up by the spectrum analyzer and it's USB port is very clean. My spectrum analyzer only goes to 3GHz so that is the highest I tested. I can't comment about its response above that. It has 20dB gain up to 600MHz, then it drops off to about 13dB. So it does not meet the manufacturers claim of 20dB over the full span.It contains a battery so is handy if you have only noisy power supplies.For the price it is ok if you need 20dB at frequencies below 600MHz or so.If you need gain at higher frequencies, look elsewhere.Also take into account this is a sample size of one. There may be considerable variation between samples. Had it met the spec, I'd be more confident. But when your product is out of spec for most of its bandwidth tested, I'd be wary.
