I’ve used the water crystals for years in my garden - a scoop/plant. Now that I’m only doing container gardening, these are especially valuable as they will keep my planters from drying out. I won’t have to water 2x/day when using these.

I have irrigation to most of my gardens...but not all my containers are included due to odd positioning. These crystals have saved the day during this past extra dry summer. Happy plants...happy gardener!!

These granules work well to keep plants moist when water is scarce. I mix them into the dirt and then plant my annuals.

Years ago I worked in a park with an arboretum. Some of the soil mixes would dry out too quickly, so we used a product that produced a water retention gel. This is not that product, these crystals make what looks like cracked ice with very little retained moisture.July 22, 2024 Update: Experimenting with these crystals, I found if I increase the volume of crystals, at least in my case, I achieved better results, but still not great.July 31, 2024 Update: Too much of this product must be used to retain moisture on/in the soil. I just don’t think water is being released as advertised.The jello-like consistency becomes nasty smelling after a couple days.I stopped using it today and recycled the remaining product. Cannot recommend, waste of money.

The main purpose for these water absorbing beads is for keeping your potted plants moist. However, I make smelly jelly with the beads. I hydrate the beads and then put some in small jars, along with a couple drops of dishwashing liquid and fragrance oil. These beads work extremely well for my purpose.

I used this product in small individual containers for my tomato seedlings before transplanting them into my larger garden. They expanded quite a bit. I've continued to use a good amount of these crystals in my potted outdoor plants so they don't dry out as quickly in the middle of the summer day as they used to. I'm experimenting early on to see how long a proper amount of moisture will last.
