This is what a Robotic vaccum should be in 2025
The Honiture V8-Pro is very well designed. Comparing it with am iRobot-J7 that I have been using for two years, a brand and a model that seems to have set the standard in the US market, this device has many advantages for a comparably very reasonable price point. At the time of this review, 12th of Jan 2025, the V8-Pro device could be obtained for $ 150 on Amazon, while the iRobot J7, an inferior alternative as I will describe from firsthand experience below, is selling for $ 500 or over 3 times more than the V8-Pro. The V8-Pro benefits from a number of seemingly small design elements that come together to make a big difference in the value you get from your investment.Cleaning - General: The device nicely cleans the area. The mop is particularly useful and allows you control over the volume of water you would like the device to put on your floors. In my application, the tank seems sufficient for about 1500 Sqft on the medium setting. I use a cleaning solution diluted in water in the tank. The V8-Pro cleans and mops about 9 Sqft per minutes in my application; likely to do more with more open spaces with less corners and obstacles.Cleaning - Side Brush: V8-Pro seems to feature a slightly wider wide side brush; one that rotates at a slower pace. The rotation speed is particularly important. The V8-Pro grabs dirt from the edge and brings it under the device to be vacuumed whereas the J7’s fast rotating brush tosses them from one side to the other, fails to pick them up.Cleaning - Suction: V8-Pro’s powerful suction means you don't have to clean up the internals of the device as much as you have to with an iRobot. The iRobot required me to vacuum clean its passage ways with a hand held vacuum every time otherwise it would effectively cease to function.Cleaning - Quiet operation: V8-Pro is overall far quieter while operating. It rarely bangs against obstacles and even then a lot more gently than any iRobot I have owned. The navigation allows it to avoid head on collisions for the most part whereas the J7 puts the SLAM into the VSlam technology.Navigation - Mapping: The initial mapping process was particularly impressive and precise with the V8-Pro. The device spent less than 5 minutes going around a 500 Sqft area with multiple rooms and obstacles to generate a map, only coming close to sense (through physical contact) some of the edges and furniture legs.Navigation - Positioning: The V8-Pro seems to easily find its location. To test its positioning accuracy, I once started and paused the vacuum routine half way. I then physically relocated the V8-Pro to a different room and asked it to go back to its base. The device rotated in place a couple of times, moved about 4 feet to the and repeated the rotations, came back to where I had first placed it and went directly back to the charging station without hitting anything along the way. The J7 can’t be repositioned even for an inch (let’s say to clear a fault or an obstacle it couldn’t overcome) without getting totally confused.Navigation – Obstacle avoidance: The V8-Pro is actively aware of its surroundings. My young son plays a little game every so often throwing random objects or jumping in front of the device. The V8-Pro detects the obstacle a couple of feet away, stops and finds its way around the temporary to continue its operation. This is particularly useful in real life situations. In comparison unexpected obstacles can confuse the iRobot J-7’s navigation. Imagine you a plush toy or winter coat on the floor. A J7 need a hard surface to detect and obstacle whereas the V8-Pro recognizes the obstacle and avoid approaching it too closely.Additional - Management app: The app provides similar functionalities as the iRobot’s less the constant advertising function to compel you to buy various accessories. I personally appreciate the absence of ads. Splitting the area into smaller rooms, scheduling or starting an impromptu customized cleaning (e.g. clean the foyer twice a day) is far easier on this app than it is on the iRobot’s.Few shortcomings of the app:- The app is metric only and lacks a scale in the background. This could make it a little more challenging to position restricted zones.- The app insists on precise location for the initial pairing which is totally unnecessary when you only need the vacuum to have your router’s password. This to me was a huge privacy concern. It made me wonder what information the app collected and sent to the manufacturer.- I have two of these devices. The first one keeps loosing connections with the app needing to reconnect with Bluetooth all the time. The second one works just fine.Additional – Design features: V8-Pro’s dust bin is very easy to remove and the filter is well placed. V8-Pro’s dust bin is also larger and features a small spring backed lid that prevents the dust from flying all over until you are ready to empty it up. The charging adapter works on 100-240 volts (I can’t tell the voltage range of an iRobot) making it possible to send it as a gift to your overseas friends. In summary:If you are looking for a dependable device (note I only had the V8-Pro for a month – might update this review later) to run around, be dependable and clean up (vacuum and mop) while you do other things, be relatively quiet, do a far better job than its leading competitor on just about every aspect, the V8-Pro is a great vacuum cleaner for your purpose and especially the price point.

Giving it another chance
Seconday update 4/2025. The company has really done everything to make it right. They recently sent us a brand new unit which we just set up and started using. It cleaned our first floor on one battery charge and was much quieter and managed to clean better. I'm hoping it was just a bad battery on the original unit. But I will give this company 5 stars for their efforts to make this a 5 star experience! Not many companies will stand behind their product to make sure you are happy. The compamy has since this review been very accomodating. We were offered a new unit and refund for the purchase. Maybe the 1st was just a lemon, whcih can happen. I will update this review when we receive our replacement unit and give it some time but i have been happy with the store response ive received. We have given this thing over a year and it's terrible. The replacement filter doesn't fit so I have to tape it in which with dust doesn't last and ive lost filters when empting the dust bin cause it falls right out. The battery isn't strong enough to do our main floor area which isn't more then 600 sq ft. When I reached out to Amazon they referred me to the manufacturer who NEVER responded. I couldn't even find replacement battery on their store. Its gotten progressively louder and louder. Ive cleaned it multiple times and it still leaves dirt and pet hair in the floor. I have to use my normal vaccum to get my floors clean. What a waste of money.

Great customer service!
UPDATE:The seller reached out to me and offered to replace my failed robot free of charge. What great customer service! I am extremely great full for the quick response to my issue. I changed my rating from 1 to 5 stars.————————Purchased in October 2024, it worked good for a few months then stopped working. All it does now is go in circles bumping into things until the battery dies. It cannot find its way home to charge even though it’s a few feet away.
