Works as intended
This works well for aerating, but only if you have a small yard or just need it for a small area. It is labor intensive, especially if the ground is hard and dry. Try to use it after a rain or after you have watered. The build quality is pretty good, however the caps that it comes with to cover the bolts don't stay on that well and it is easy to hit the side of your knee with the bolts sticking out. This will not go through rocks, unless you just hit them really hard with it. It is a pretty decent size, but the speed really depends on how you leverage your weight on the tool. It is fairly easy to clean, just using a hose, and it does come with a little tool to clean out the plug holes, but try not to get a rock lodged into them, they are really hard to get out.

Does what it claims but, boy, it's a lot of work
I had a few areas of grass that seemed to be drying out more than other areas of the lawn and bought this aerator to get more water into those areas. At first, I had a difficult time getting it to go straight into the ground but practice makes (somewhat) perfect. To my surprise, the dirt was as hard as a rock about two inches down. My suggestion is to water target areas well before using the aerator so it will penetrate deeper more easily. Plugs do get pushed up to the tray but boy, it's hard to get this thing clean for storage. Unless you have boundless energy, manually aerating will wear you out in no time so be reasonable in choosing the size of the area to work on. I cannot speak to the longevity of the tool since I used it only one day but I have no idea why the shaft was made in two pieces with two partial connectors between them. It seems like a single shaft with added bolsters would strengthen the tool but maybe it was a cost savings or shipping savings to make it this way.

Major workout
This little tool was assembled fast and easy and even had the tools. Our lawn had never been aerated by plug method, only spikes which didn't work. Our lawn is 2100 square feet and it took about 2 hours to do the entire lawn. What was nice was the tray that catches the plugs. Pretty handy tool and glad I will only do it once a year! For sure will give you a workout!I found the stomping down hard pushed the prongs into the grass better to pull the plugs.Recommend it for helping the lawn and a physical workout..

Well built, your back will break before this!
If you are planing on using this for a small project it will work great. Anything larger than 10x10 I hope you have prepared mentally a physically for the task ahead. It will challenge your will, patience and back. However if you succeed you are a better person than I.

Works great, but it's hard work
I really like this product. My yard was in desperate need of aeration, but I couldn't get it together to rent a motorized one. This product works well, but it's not easy. I recommend wearing work boots or shoes with a firm sole because after jamming this thing into hard packed ground a few times your foot is going to start to hurt.

Easy to Assemble and Use
The Lawn Aerator Manual Coring Tool was very easy to put together with very clear instructions. It came well packaged in a secured box with minimal pieces to deal with. To use, you simply push down on it (like a pogo stick!) then wiggle the tool and pull it up to release. It takes a little effort to unclog the 3 core plugs once they are filled with dirt but it is easier if the lawn and dirt are dry. Just do a section at a time and it won't be too overwhelming. A simple but very effective design!

The ground needs to be wet/moist:
…otherwise the prongs are difficult to go into the soil. The product is VERY sturdy and well-made.
