Pack of 4 Classic Metal Rat Traps Fully Burnished - Powerful Snap Trap for Rats, Chipmunks, Humane, Durable, Reusable and Effective

I chose these traps because they looked like the most solid and powerful trap on the market. I was worried about using a plastic one and it not killing the rat quickly or at all. These traps are very strong and durable. You have to be careful because I could see someone breaking their finger if not used carefully in a safe location.So far it has worked great except for once when an especially large rat didn't get killed and made it out injured unfortunately. It was pretty big and I think it came to the bait from the wrong angle. From now on I am sure to place them in a position where they will come to the bait pedal from the front by placing against a wall as a precaution. The goal is to be as humane as possible of course.

Easy to set although it depends on how strong you are but I did not feel like it took much force. I do take caution to make sure my fingers are never in the way where if it should go off it would strike my fingers but that is just common sense. Once set it doe not go off so easily that moving it would set it off. Anything caught is in big trouble but like any trap it depends on how they set it off. If it hits their limb well they are not going to die but if it hits their head or bday they either are dead or will be shortly. They stand up to being outside but I chose the brass traps by accident. So not sure if they will get some rust if out side for a long time. I am not planning to keep these out for a long time and will be using a cover to keep it out of direct rain not to protect the trap but from videos it is a good way to catch voles. I suppose I will get a few field mice along the way as well. So let the voles be aware my yard is not a good place to set up housekeeping.

I have purchased these twice. I have never found them sprung with out doing their job. I hide them in a narrow box. My wife wont have to look at it that way. The spring is pretty strong. So much so that when armed, the trap's frame will bow a bit. This is the reason for 4 stars and not 5. Another reviewer suggested mounting them to a block of wood. This seemed to work well. It will work getting rid of large pest like squirrels or rats destroying your home.

I live in Florida with a canal in the back yard so roof and fruit rats are always around and an issue especially this year for some reason. I tried all kinds of traps, these little menaces are smart af and they will get out of the wood traps and some of the other ones like the bucket one I have (that one only works on the small ones for me and they have gotten out a few times even with the water). Glue traps work sometimes but I don’t like them and you can’t reuse them.The thing about these is the teeth, it holds them in there if they don’t die on the snap. Most of the time they die instantly as these are VERY strong! Be very careful of your fingers when setting them. I have bought so many of these, they really do the job. I’ve used peanut butter, slimjims, lunch meat, nuts all kinds of things. These traps WORK! If you are unsure, get them. I just wish you got more for the money but hey, they get rid of the rats so that’s what is most important. If you can, screw them into some wood to keep them stable in one spot. These are the go to traps for sure.

These are best for indoor use since they rust as others have noted. In my case I deployed 3 of these and caught 3 birds--no rats. The birds seem to be attracted to the shiny metal. It would be best to get the black version of this trap and/or spray-paint the trap with a flat beige (like dirt) to lessen bird traffic.To be fair, I employed two other types of snap trap and a trap of each type caught a bird. So if you want to use snap traps outdoors, I suggest you try an enclosed version, or build your own enclosure to lessen the chance of getting birds.The thing I liked about these traps is that they seem to be unlikely of making a 'partial kill' given their 'teeth' near the kill bar. The trigger mechanism is also as sensitive as you can get, much more so than for plastic traps. The question is whether these traps are particularly attractive to indoor (e.g. attic) rats.

This item works quite well with the Heddel mouse trap alert system. I have a Heddel mouse trap alert system that I normally use with my mouse trap. It keep the killed rodent from decomposing and stinking up the whole place. But the Heddel mouse trap alert system does not fit a regular wooden rat trap due to the thickness of the base. This item have a thin enough base that the Heddel mouse trap alert system fit this rat trap, even thought it was design for mouse trap, and alert me of a killed rat before it decomposed. In addition, the saw tooth base keep any rat from escaping the trap, unlike the regular wooden rat trap that let the last rat that was caught escape from the trap. And the color black hopefully will make it so inconspicuous that the rats will not be alert by it's appearance and it will fall for the baits without being alert by the trap itself.Update: 6/6/2020It appears that even this trap can not hold the giant rat I have. The rat just lift himself out of the trap like he did with the Victor rat trap, even though he left a trail of blood behind. I thought he died elsewhere but the Wyze camera show the rat coming back and was wary of the area where the trap was at. I now use the Duke 110 conibear trap that is so strong that I could not set it without a special tool that compress the spring. So if I can not compress the spring, not even the giant rat can lift the spring to get out. I can not find the Duke 110 hear on Amazon any more, even I purchase it from Amazon a couple of week ago, so I purchase 2 more from Ebay instead. So look else where if you have a giant rat and not this Made2catch rat trap.Update: 10/8/2020I was able to cat the big rat that got away last time. The trick is when you screw down the trap to the board, do not screw it down so tight but to let at least 1/8" gap so the trap have free play to twist around when the rat struggle. This way the rat can twist and turn all it want but will not be able to lift the trap arm to get out. See the picture of the rat caught in this made2catch rat trap.
