SO HAPPY WITH THIS!
I put off getting an automatic litter box for a long time, mostly due fear after reading one to many horror stories. After a lot of research I decided to give this one a try. I liked that it was open, and thought it would be more appealing to our three picky cats. Honestly, I didn’t even know if they would all use it all because they each had their own ‘preferred’ box. However, they have all taken really well to it, and are somewhat fascinated when it empties. The sensors are great and it does not sift unless it’s completely empty (the cats sit nearby and watch it do its thing). All three of our cats happily use it, and we have reduced the number of litter boxes to ONE from three. IT DOES HAVE TO BE CHANGED EVERY FEW DAYS, BUT SO FAR THERE HAS BEEN ABSOLUTELY NO SMELL ISSUES EVEN THOUGH IT IS AN OPEN TOP.It is extremely quiet, and barely noticeable when it is emptying. The tub does have to be cleaned occasionally when it gets too clumpy and stuck, but again we have three cats using it.We also purchased the additional step, which was definitely worth it and catches a majority of the loose litter that comes out. Not all of it, but a lot of it.I have already recommended it to several friends, and will continue to do so because we are just so pleased with the function and safety of the product overall.

Wouldn’t get
I really had high hopes with this box, especially using the SLIDE litter. Unfortunately as you can see, where your cat pees next to the takes it forms a clump from behind and when the machine goes to dump this clump will not release. Unless you take it apart you cannot get what gets trapped behind the rake, yes poo too, even with the small size. We will be going back to a regular box though

Even the scaredy cat uses it!
The media could not be loaded. This thing has changed my life! I’m not exaggerating. My sweet, scared calico is scared of everything and everybody. It is simple install; it is completely plug and play. It took her a couple days, but she started using it and then stopped using her old box. It auto cleans several minutes after sending the cat left, and it’s SAFE. Don’t trust those closed top ones. They’ve been hurting cats, and could you even imagine what that would do to you? They can escape this if it malfunctions, but I don’t think it will. It is simple back and forth where it pulls all the clean litter into a reservoir through a filter and dumps dirty litter in the bottom base/bag in one direction, and rights itself where only clean litter is left in the other direction. If a mess happens internally, which it probably will, cats get sick, etc, the pieces disassemble and reassemble easily for cleaning. We just took those parts outside, hosed them off, then dried and reassembled. It took like 15 minutes. It’s paid for itself already by saving me time scooping, and I don’t have any smell because putting it on auto means it scoops quickly. If it smells, you probably need to check the bag in the bottom drawer to see if it’s full. It’s great value, function, and more compact than my previous litter enclosure. It’s so much more affordable than any other comparable automated litter box. I love our Furoomate!

Some great things, some not so great things
I got this litterbox via their original Kickstarter. I wanted to replace my 5 year old Litter Robot 3. The Litter Robot works fine, but the cats never really liked it much (I have 8 cats) so we were still scooping our other boxes because they didn't use the automated one much. I figured it was because they would prefer an open box rather than the standard enclosed form that most automated litter boxes use. Compared to the Litter Robot, I feel this model has some design details that are just missing. I love that it's open, and my cats definitely prefer to use it over the Litter Robot, but from a human side, there are some things lacking. I'm hoping that future designs will improve on what they've started. Here's a list of pro's and cons compared to the LR3.Pros:-Open design-Extremely quiet (much quieter than the LR3, however I'm told the LR4 is much quieter also)-Love the design of the step (extra cost accessory) It's a great size, great price and I love that is has storage in it)-Large capacity for waste, it takes a long time to get full-Safety - the sensors on this are exceptional. I have a cat that loves to watch it and tries to climb in when it's cycling and it always stops as soon as he moves in and waits for him to move away to continue.-Price - it is less than half the cost of the LR new and the accessories are also very reasonable in comparison.Cons:-Smell - this machine has no UV light, and no carbon filter. The smell from the waste drawer builds up over time-The space for the cat to do their business is too small. I have a 15lb cat and sometimes he climbs in and doesn't turn around but just walks in and goes. He fills the whole space front to back, so his waste falls out the entry opening and ends up going into the gap there and making a mess, or going into the step or between the machine and the step onto the floor. Very frustrating because he's doing what he's supposed to do, but the space is just too small-Clumps frequently get stuck to the lining and don't fall into the waste compartment. This happens because there's no weight ball to agitate the liner and knock clumps free like in the LR.-No indicator to know when the unit is getting ready to cycle. If your cat goes in and leaves you don't know if it's properly triggered until it starts to cycle.-It's kind of a pain to manually cycle. On the LR you just push one button and it cycles if you want to do it manually. On the Furmonate you have to press and hold two buttons to unlock the controls, then swap to manual mode, then "scoop" then swap back to auto mode.-Too many places for guck to build up. There are gaps where waste and clumps can get into the mechanism and gum things up. It comes apart nicely to clean, but I find I have to do this every few days and since this is supposed to be a time saver by scooping for me, the fact that I have to take time every few days to take it apart and clean it somewhat defeats that purpose.- No app. While the LR app is not my favorite, it is nice to be able to track data and control the unit from my phone. The Furmonate has no app available.

RE: a good product, but is too small for one of my cats
I like this self cleaning automatic cat litter box. However, I had to keep an extra litter box besides this product, because one of my cats is too large to use the Furoomate. He is 15 lbs and seems intimidated by the Furoomate! My other cat uses it and it does what they said it does. I empty the bag once a week and it is full. Overall a good product, it does what it says it does. I just wish it was a little larger so my bigger cat can use it!

Great until it wasn't
For the first few weeks this litterbox was wonderful. However every time it empties it falls off the tracks at the front and we have to manually handle it back on after each use. It's an enormous pain.

Quietly delivers on all promises.
After a few weeks of use, this product has exceeded my expectations. The 2 feline users have adopted it and it is incredibly quiet.
