Weather-resistant and stylish
Living in a region that often encounters rainy and stormy weather, finding the right outdoor lighting that withstands the elements is crucial. Having installed these lights a month ago, they've already faced several harsh storms and the waterproof quality is undeniable. The upward and downward beams provide a comforting level of security and ambiance to my otherwise dark garden and walkway. The installation was straightforward, thanks to the push connector system which genuinely saves time. They blend seamlessly with the modern aesthetic of my home, offering functionality while enhancing the external decor.

Replacement for an old similar light that had water ingress.
Much better product, easy to install, slightly different screw footprint but the back box covers the old holes.

Good quality, attractive & modern lights. value for money 2 pack
These wall lights are a bit of a fiddle to install, the screws attaching the case to the backbox were very tight so a lot of care and effort was required to remove the, definitely don't use a screwdriver with a worn tip or they would have chewed the screw head. The backbox is made of plastic, it feels a bit flimsy as it is quite flexible, but it does do the job and will not corrode. There is a cable entry grommet supplied which must be usedto prevent water ingress, however ensure that the cable entering is facing down making a drip loop otherwise rain water could run down the cable into the box and electrics within. As a precaution and belt and braces approach, i always add a dab of sillicone sealant to make absolutely sure that it is fully weather sealed. The push fit connectors are a good idea but flawed as my electric wire feed (used on the previously fitted light that these are replacing) is of a solid copper core and didnt fit into these push fit connector, so I replaced with the tradition screwed terminal block insteadOnce fitted to the wall the lights look really nice, being of a modern design and the current trend of anthracite grey which is of a durable and attractive powder coat paint. There are no bulbs supplied so you will have to factor in the additional cost. They are gu10 bayonet halogan type but I would recommend LED variety for energy efficiency. I used smart bulbs to give design flexibility and automated control by alexa, they work great.Being up/down lights they are for aesthetics rather than illuminating an area and for this purpose the provide a sleek modern look.worthy of note, if you have a bedroom window above, the uplighter may cause light pollution in the bedroom if they are illuminated overnight. I solved this issue by using an Alexa routine to turn off the uplight at bedtime (with a "goodnight" Alexa command) and dim but leave-on the downlight to illuminate the entrance. Easily achieved if you are aufait with elexa smart home techniques ( or google too maybe)They are a decent buy at £34.89 for a pack of 2 at the time of my review and are a cost-effective way of smartening up the front facade of the home or adding style to the patio or walkway.

I Did Not Find Them Easy to Fit
These Kerry Up Down Outdoor Wall Outside Lights are of a type which is currently in vogue, but I am not convinced that they are particularly useful. Yes, they attractively light up the façade of your house, immediately above & below where they are fitted, but they do not very helpfully light the path to & from your door. Most annoyingly, I experienced several problems in fitting the lights, a task which should have caused me no difficulty. I have over 50 years of experience of non-professional/DIY dealing with a wide variety of domestic electrical fittings. The 1st problem I faced was getting one of the light fittings apart to get access to where I needed to connect it to the wall, & to the incoming electrical supply. One of the grub screws on the little rectangular wiring box on the back of one of the lights was jammed so tight in that my Phillips screwdriver kept slipping when I tried to undo it. I almost gave up, because I did not think I was going to get it off without stripping the head of the screw. Fortunately, I could clearly see the screw thread inside the rectangular steel wiring box, so I applied some releasing lubricant fluid to the screw thread, orienting the light fitting to let the fluid seep down the thread towards the screw head. Then, pressing the Phillips screwdriver extremely hard into the screw head, I managed to free the screw & loosen it to take the wiring box apart. My next problem was that I had not previously used the particular type of ‘push connectors’ provided for connecting these lights to the mains electrical supply from the appropriate light switch. Screw connector blocks are common & all follow a standard format, well understood. Recently, a number of differing, incompatible, push-fit wiring blocks have been introduced to replace them (with the intention of making fitting easier) but I had not come across this particular variety before. However, I comfortably expected instructions which would explain how they operate. Unfortunately, the ‘instructions’ provided (purely pictorial) – see photo – did not provide any explanation of how to use these push-fit blocks. I tried, without success, simply pushing in each of the individual L, N & earth wires into the connector … the 1st wire appeared to click in but then popped out again as I tried to secure the next wire. So then I tried an online search for the method of connecting/disconnecting a push-fit connector which looked similar to those provided here. I could find plenty of information on other types of push-fit blocks, but not these ones!So I asked for advice from the seller of these lights, through Amazon. They replied quite quickly, saying that you push down on the tab while inserting the wire. Still, I could not get my wires to fit in securely! Examining the connector with a magnifying glass, I began to wonder if the wires I was intending to connect were simply too thick to go in, though they would easily have fitted into a screw connector block. After searching my stocks, I eventually found some thinner 3-core lighting wire & discovered that I could get those wires to fit securely into the supplied push-fit connector block. So I soldered a short length of those thinner wires onto my original electrical supply wires.Unfortunately, my difficulties were not over. You will see in my photos the push-fit connector blocks I am talking about, & various other features of these lights. The GU10 LED light bulbs in one of the photos were supplied by me; they do not come with the lights. To fit the GU10 bulbs, it is necessary to unscrew the top & bottom sections of the stout, heavy, stainless steel ‘light tube’. Note in my photo that the steel wiring box on the back of the light tube is marked with an up arrow, & that the top section of the light tube has the connecting screw threads cut on the inside of it, whereas the bottom section of the light tube has the threads cut on the outside of it. Both joins have a rubber seal at the closure of the threads. This arrangement is to avoid water ingress into the light tube, as the top section reaches down over the fixed centre section, which in turn reaches down over the bottom section. You have to be very gentle and careful as you introduce & start to turn each threaded section into the next, as it all too easy to fail to achieve straight alignment, resulting if not careful in cross-threading the screw joints of top & bottom sections of the light tube. Also, beware of tightening the top & bottom on too hard, or you will shred the rubber seal. The part of the light fitting which screws to the wall is a semi-flexible plastic fitting (which does not appear to be very robust), with a rubber/silicone seal on its edge, to seal out water when the steel rectangle at the back of the light fitting is fitted over it. You need to be careful when you fit the heavyweight steel section of the light over the plastic section screwed to the wall not to overstress the plastic section & damage it. Also, there is not a lot of volume inside the rectangular plastic box, now screwed to the wall, to accommodate the wiring & push-fit wire connector, but it is necessary to get all wires etc neatly inside the plastic wall-fitting section, so as to allow the rubber edge seal to make even contact with the inside of the rectangular steel section, both to allow secure exclusion of water ingress & to allow the grub screws which join the steel & plastic sections together to be tightened up.The reasoning behind my awarding 3 stars is that these 2 Kerry Up Down Outdoor Wall Outside Lights do in fact work & look quite good once fitted. However, it was hard work to fit them, at £34.99 they are not cheap, & they show where the door of the house is but do not provide a wide spread of light as you approach or leave it.
