Slinger's Day - The Complete Series

I ordered this impulsively for a bit of 1980s nostalgia and was pleasantly surprised to find it incredibly funny. It's one of those sitcoms where it all just clicks into place, the characters and the situations combining to make an extremely engaging, funny show. Bruce Forsyth is marvellous as the irascible but essentially kind-hearted supermarket manager, trying to run his store with it's eccentric staff and customers. Forsyth creates a very likable, sympathetic character and is well supported by the rest of the cast, in particular the legendary David Kelly. The situations are humorously bizarre but strangely plausible, played out with a mixture of word play and slapstick, with Forsyth razor sharp in both cases. Slinger's Day is huge fun, and a nice glimpse of a bygone era.

A family friend told me he had been after this for ages, I found it for him, ordered it, told my friend, he said it was great value for money, he is thrilled to bits, perfect ..

Just as good as I remembered. My whole family are enjoying this comedy. No swearing and easy to watch.

what a good laugh the oldies are the best a must for old people who like a good laugh
