Excellent digital multimeter (DMM). I would buy this product again and recommend it highly. I use it almost every day in my lab where I do professional electronics work. The display is bright and easy to read. If you need a DMM in this instrument's price range you cannot do better than this Rigol instrument.

Twice now I have had to send my Rigol DM3058E back to Rigol support for the same problem--it just stops working and won't power on. The first time they said the fuse was bad--not blown, just bad. Still waiting for a reply after this second return but gave them a strongly worded requested for a new unit. Have only used this unit not even 10 times since I bought it. We'll see how this plays itself out.

First I started with using the Fluke 287 for everything. It's heavy, bulky, tips over, and slow to turn on. The batteries run out at the most inconvenient times. Something that has can be always on and ready removes that distraction.So I tried other less-expensive meters like the VICHY (no longer available on Amazon, but still pushed elsewhere). That meter is nothing, but a cheap hand-held meter in a larger box and besides the annoying series of beeps at startup, has some issues that caused me to wish I'd never taken a chance.Then, for only a bit more than double that investment, I moved to this bench meter (the DM3058E). It's a completely different level of quality and experience. The measurements are fairly quick and accurate. It has a large, backlit display that is easy to read from a distance. And the backlight stays on. The buttons are easy to press, the active one is lighted, and there is USB support for reading measurements from an attached computer, as well as Serial support, which I've not used.The only thing I'd want changed (and has bugged me since the first day are):(1) It always turns on when power is supplied. For some, this could be considered a feature. But there is no option to have it stay off, if it was turned off manually before the unit is unplugged.For safety reasons, the bench and supporting power is shut down when not in use, so nothing can accidentally be left on and burn a soldering tip, or a hot glue gun to drip glue all weekend, or a something else to cause a fire.So when the bench power is switched back on, the Rigol DM3058E comes on automatically, even if it was switched off before the switch was powered off. This is annoying, and removes 1/4 star.All other Rigol equipment honor the previous power state.(2) The readings are just a bit slow. Take continuity, for example. You want to hear the tone IMMEDIATELY when the probes make contact (like you get with the cheap VICHY unit)! But the Rigol DM3058E takes a few dozen ms too long and interrupts the flow. It sometimes fails to beep on continuity, because it takes longer than you'd expect, or because the probes are not quite in good enough contact. It's worth taking a start off just for this, but certainly 1/2 star. This is a common use-case and should be make instantaneous and 100% reliable.

Love it so far!!!! Just the convenience of having a bench multimeter is outstanding... Unit is clear, easy to read, simple but full of features. Granted this isn't their top of the line model, bit for a DIY'ier/ hobbyist. For a beginner the unit was easy to figure out, hell I didn't even read the owners manual.........probably should through..

It's was definitely a Rigol DM3058E DVM I received (since the DM3059E has an excellent reputation, this review will focus on the seller). I'm not sure what this seller was doing with one of these in stock - since test equipment is not what they specialize in. But the price was incredible. The unit was brand new, sealed in plastic in a factory sealed box. It was shipped promptly and arrived quickly. I would DEFINITELY buy from this seller again. 5 STARS! :-)

3 stars evidently means that a product is ok and that is what this product is; just ok. Nothing special. Nothing horrible. This unit was very expensive in my opinion. I kind of wish I had put the money toward a spectrum analyzer instead. Oh well. Anyway, this product has lots of features; I have yet to learn them all. I like that it has the 5 or 6 digit readout. It's very precise as far as that goes. It can read out frequency too which is nice. I read another review that said that the lcd screen went out within a few months. I think this might be a problem for this model because my screen doesn't seem that great. It flickers and seems like it could die at any time. I hope it doesn't, especially for how expensive this thing was! I don't want to have to send this thing back to the factory or something. Overall I wouldn't recommend this multimeter to anybody. It's a waste of money and not quality made. Buy another brand or just use a handheld meter.Anyway,

Works as expected. One of the few reasonably priced 5 1/2 digit 4-wire systems. It pairs perfectly with my Rigol scope. I'll add notes in the future after I get some remote control done.
