Works Well with Rpi5, but Why a USB-A?
This Waveshare USB to UART board has two output headers: the usual 2.54mm Dupont style header, and a second SH1.0mm 3-pin header that matches the Raspberry Pi 5 debug serial port (ttyAMA10). The module comes with all the connecting cables necessary to use either connection. The board also has a jumper that allows choosing between 3.3 or 5V. This module uses a USB-A type connector to connect directly to your laptop or PC instead of a cable connector. This is my least favorite way to connect a module to my laptop. I always end up using a USB extension cable to do the job.The module’s serial port with Dupont header was successfully tested using an Arduino Pro Mini and the Raspberry Pi 5’s serial port on the GPIO header (ttyAMA0). The module was additionally tested successfully on the Raspberry Pi 5’s SH1.0mm debug serial port (ttyAMA10).

HIgh-quality USB<->RS232 transceiver
This adapter costs 10 times the price of a generic USB/RS232 adapter and it is worth it, because:- high-quality manufacturing- convenient wires/connectors- JST connector for Raspi 5 UART. I do not use Raspberry Pi, but if yo uahve it, it is definitely conveninent.- 3.3/5V level switch- Extended RS232 signals -- RTC,CTS and also DTR,DSR,DCD,RITransceiver IC is CH343G, it support very high baud rates.

Very nice CH343 based UART module.
Works as expected and has a RPI 5 dedicated connector with cable. Also works with ESP32 MCUs, as expected. It includes additional pads to add headers for alternative pinout scenarios.The gold plating is a neat touch and looks nice against the black PCB, but can't say it helps performance. I would have preferred a USB-C interface, but can work with the USB-A.The only negative is it's twice the price of their standard UART modules without the PI connector.
