My daughter has been showing an interest in playing at swordfighting, and I thought it would be fun for her to have a shield to go with it. Zelda is by far my favorite video game franchise, so I had to request one of these foam Hylian shields when I came across it. My daughter is sure to be delighted by it since she recognizes it as well.The foam on this is nice and thick while still being a little flexible, and seems to be pretty decent at absorbing shocks. It has fun, bright colors. Some of the paint is a little uneven at the edges but since this is a children’s toy that doesn’t bother me. I would probably not use it as a display piece because of those wobbly lines, though, and wouldn’t recommend it for that purpose.The back side is all black, with two nylon straps bolted into place. These are not adjustable and there is no stretch to it, so smaller kids or kids at heart may need to improvise a bit.I think it is a good size for a kid: not so huge that it will be unwieldy, but still large enough to be pretty impressive in battle. I’m planning to make this the big surprise at my kid’s Easter egg hunt this year and am excited to see her reaction. Definitely worth a try as a gift for a Zelda-loving kid.

This is such a cool shield! My nephew and I love all things Zelda. His birthday is coming up and this shield is a perfect gift. He is about to turn nine years old and I wanted to get him something fun that he could play with. It’s not too heavy that he can run around with it on his arm while swinging around a fake sword. He could also hang it up on his wall or lean it up against something. He has lots of options.Because it’s made of foam it’s not too heavy. The only negative is when I opened it. It had a very strong paint/chemical smell. The smell became less and less longer. I let it sit out. So if you order this as a gift, I suggest taking it out of the plastic and letting it air out before you wrap it.The arm straps are solid. I don’t have a concern about them ripping out.

With jagged hole cuts and sloppy paint, this shield looks good if it is being moved around in action but not when sitting still. It looks better than a flat shield with the design simply printed on. I think this would be good for playing sword fights but maybe not cosplay.The straps feel secure and the shield feels durable enough for playing sword fights.

The shield is decent quality build. The paint job looks like someone slapped paint in the general direction of the item.The main trouble is the off gassing smell when taken out of the package. Give this a day or two to air out and it is fine.Overall this is a fine item for light LARPing and costume for parties.

We have a Zelda-loving son, so when I saw this shield that would go with his nice replica "master sword," I jumped on it. We have had a few other shields like this one, but all of them fell apart and were cheap, low-quality items. This shield is solid, with much nicer materials, and it can take a beating when the kiddos play. It also looks great in person. Highly recommended!

This shield is better quality than I expected! While it's foam based it's quite durable/sturdy. The size is ideal for kids/young adults but even as a grown adult it's a good size for cosplay/costumes. We got this for my young son but will probably wait til he's a little older to enjoy it.

This shield is a little on the smaller side.Had a really strong smell when I unpacked. Left it outside to air out and it smells fine now, not as strong.Overall very pleased with the detail. It’s a sweet find.
