Catches leaks
We inherited a homeowner-built shallow well system with our property, and it has some challenges. Including a couple of 30 year old, 200' underground runs of pvc. I've been doing repairs as I find issues, but it seems like another one always springs up a few months later. A full overhaul is planned, but this leak detector should be a big help in the meantime. It lets me know if another leak has cropped up, and will shut the water off for me if there's a problem when I'm away from home. Well, or at home for that matter, the pumphouse is 200' away and I had an underground leak that I didn't notice for a while. Our water is soft and clean, but having the prefilter won't hurt. I like that the filter will backflush, one less thing to worry about. It was fairly easy to install, though I have a lot of experience working on this system now. I just added it to the end of the manifold in the pumphouse (easiest place) and re-routed the water from the pump into it. And routed the backflush to the drain downhill from the pumphouse. Then I put the sensors in the most likely leak areas and was all set. I tested by setting a detector in a pan of water, as well as letting a sprinkler run long. It shut the system off in both cases. A bypass wasn't necessary in my case as the well won't run without power anyway.

It is not wireless or remote viewable
Just to be clear, this product is not wireless, nor can you monitor it when you are away. It has no WiFi capability at all. Having covered that, here's what it can do:Shut of water when it detects water leaking via its supplied 4 wireless sensors. When I write wireless, I mean it is wire free. You place the little battery powered sensor under your sink and if the water leaks, it sends a signal. It does not mean it works via WiFi or can be monitored remotely. It has several test modes and a prefilter that can be programmed to self clean. There is also a water usage meter, and two water software shut off modes. One based on the non stop running in time of water. Say someone turns on a garden hose and forgets it. After a programmable time, it shuts off the water and sounds an alarm. The second mode is based on continuous water capacity usage. So lets say you want to the biggest thing in the house is the spa and takes 200 gallons to fill. Well you can set the gallons to 250 and it will only allow 250 gallons to flow at any one time. Stopping the flow and restarting it, restarts the meter. So it is an insurance policy to prevent water damage and can do a pressure test for leaks. Which is why we got it. Sure there are cheaper ways to do that, like a pressure meter, but this also shuts off water in case of mishap. As my friend can attest, a leaking dishwasher can cause tens of thousands in damage.I can understand people wanting WiFi and monitoring in some cases. In ours, the unit is installed in the garage and the garage is part of the house. Checking it is as easy as going into any room. So for us it is perfect. We have a smart home, with over 50 devices connected. This one I just don't think would find use in our case. But if you have an awkward access position, then you may want to look elsewhere or a trip under the house may be the only way to turn off the alarm and get your water back on.

Can't believe it doesn't have wifi
Why the hell is it called wireless if it is powered with the power adapter and do not have any means of controlling it wirelessly? No app, no graphs of water usage, no notifications, no remote control. It's unbelievable the unit with capabilities like this one can exists in 21st century without wifi or at least bluetooth and application...I didn't really tried the unit yet, so I don't really know how good it is. But the idea of getting out of the house and wiggling into the crawlspace every time I would need to do something with it - is really frustrating... I may as well try to return it back.

Not compatible
I wish u could get this to work with our pipes but unfortunately they will take a lot more work to retrofit

Works
I have been wanting a device that would automatically shut off my main water supply when a leak is detected. This is especially useful when we go on vacation and avoids coming back to a flooded house. I have ¾ inch copper pipes and this unit works with those and also with 1 inch pipes. You can also use it without the filter if that is desired. The only nice to have would be a WiFi connection and app to notify you remotely of a leak. But that would add additional cost to the unit.

Home monitor system to prevent leaks
This is a great invention to help homeowners monitor their home's water usage and alert them when there is a possible water leak. I can monitor my home when I am away, and the system can shut off the water to prevent high water bills from water leaks. It creates peace of mind regarding leaks. The instructions are easy to follow to make sure it is working properly.
