this book was EVERYTHING!!
Book: Hate Mail by Donna MarchettiRating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5I know I’ve been really lucky to read a lot of 5 star reads so far this year. But this book, I just…wow. This had me hooked from the very first page and I read it in a day. When I tell you this book was so creative, enticing, and fun to read, I really truly mean it. As soon as I finished it—while sitting in the living room with my parents who were watching tv—I just stared off into space contemplating everything I just read, because I didn’t want it to end. My mom said to me, “Susan, you look sad.” I told her I really, genuinely was sad that this book was over.I could not get enough of the hand written letters sent between Naomi and Luca and learning about their beginning from Luca’s POV, while learning about their present from Naomi’s POV. And don’t even get me started on Jake! I can’t say much for fear of spoiling the book, but just know I loved ALL the characters in Hate Mail and they seriously have my heart.I actually have tears in my eyes writing this review, because I JUST finished this book 10 minutes ago and I want MORE. While it sucks something I could be so entranced with in just the span of a day has ended, I’m so happy I picked this book up. It’s funny, heartwarming, swoon worthy and while not overly spicy, the intimate moments really had me melting.I recommend this book to everyone and anyone who just wants a feel good, original story that will capture your heart. You will not regret it! And the book will have you wanting to read it faster and faster to know how it is going to all come to fruition. Donna Marchetti killed it with the book and has become an author I will read any chance I can.

cute story
This book has a cute storyline, and Luca and Naomi’s story is definitely unique…and it unfolds into an interesting adventure. It was sweet, mysterious, and funny.. I kind of want a “Penemy” now! Overall it was an easy and enjoyable read.

Excellent and Original Romantic Comedy!
Buckle up for this sweet and hilarious romance that tastes like pure candy! I bought this one on an absolute whim and it paid off big time! I enjoyed every page of this book. It was so endearing and I found myself rooting so hard for the characters. In a world of the same ol' tropes over and over, this story was so refreshing! Ten out of ten, would recommend!Naomi Light, Miami's weathergirl, receives an unsigned death threat in the mail one day...and laughs. It's not a real death threat, it's just a note from the pen pal she's had since fifth grade and has been estranged from for the past two years. It started with a project organized by the schools, but nothing about their relationship followed the rules. First, they kept writing long after the other students had forgotten about the project all-together -- and they never said anything nice to one another. Every letter was an attempt to craft a better insult than the last. Even still, through the years, Naomi and Luca got to know one another, and they were a constant in one another's lives. Luca wouldn't know, but it was he who first suggested Naomi pursue a career in meteorology, and Naomi never knew that Luca kept track of her through social media through high school and beyond. They lose contact in a point of change in both their lives after high school, each of them with new addresses and no way to contact the other.Until now.Luca doesn't leave a return address for Naomi on his sinister note, so, with the help of her friend, she plays along with his little game to see if she can find him anyway. She traces the steps of his life through his old addresses on the weekends, and meanwhile, a handsome hunk in Naomi's building asks her out. They have a real connection, but what about Luca? He once wanted to meet in person, and she suspects that's where his little game will end. Can she commit to the man in front of her with the idea of Luca lingering behind the postbox? Or does she need to track him down, meet him face to face, and finally see what lies behind the letters? The story unfolds one letter at a time in a playful and honest narrative that had me hooked from the get. This book was the perfect balance of humor and lightness with a deeper authentic heart underneath. Did I mention there are skateboarding kittens? This one will definitely be in my reread rotation when I need a quick pick me up. What are you waiting for? If you're a romance reader, this is an absolute must read!

Cute, Easy Read
"Hate Mail" by Donna Marchetti is a cute read with great banter, but it left me wanting more. The time jumps were interesting and showed how Naomi and Luca's penemy relationship evolved, but the predictable plot twists left little room for surprise. The miscommunication was frustrating and made it hard to get fully invested in their story. It had its cute, romcom moments and was a light and easy read.

Cute, quick read
This book is definitely a silly rom-com, in the most flattering way. Are the characters and plot lines at some points not realistic? Yeah, but their charm outweighs it(and who reads a rom-com for realism anyway?). The story and characters did have me reading this all in one day because of how entertaining and fun it was to read. And bonus, the 3rd act misdirect/fight wasn't super annoying and a drag like many other books in this genre are.SPOILERS AHEAD!One of the parts that I found kind of stupid was the inclusion of Joel. He really left his entire family because of an STD? And Luca just decided to communicate with him again just because he had other kids? And he had to be the doorman too? I think there could've been a less roundabout way of having Luca and Naomi live in the same building and more severe reason as to why someone who was a good dad one day completely abandoned his kid the next. I thought he found out Luca was never his or something, but nope. Also, who is so bad with names that they don't even know their boss's name? Did she never even email him?

Dear Naomi…
“Dear Luca….”Luca gets stuck with writing to a pen-pal in the fifth grade. Naomi and she’s way too happy for him. So begins the sarcastic bickering. During life’s challenges, they stop writing back and forth until one day when Naomi is wrapping up at work and she gets some fan mail but to her surprise it’s hate mail from none other then Luca. The only problem, she doesn’t know how to write back without an address.@donnamarchettiauthor has created a cozy rom-com novel that will have you cringing but swooning all at the same time. This was a cute read as well as easy. A bit predictable at times but it’s rewarding to figure it out.

Captivating and cute.
When I chose this as my next read, I was expecting a sickly sweet little romance. But it was so much better.Naomi and (reluctant) Luca become penpals with a twist in fifth grade, sending hate mail back and forth for years.I loved the hate mail and found their back and forth banter very entertaining.I’m a sucker for books that have letters, texts etc so I loved it included the letters through the years and gave insight into what was happening in their lives at that time.I had already guessed the twist but this made it fun waiting on Naomi to realise what was happening (although I have zero idea how she didn’t click on sooner!)I thoroughly enjoyed this book, finding myself reading it every spare moment and I have now added this author to my follow list and will be reading more of her work.Captivating, cute, away from the norm romance and I loved every minute of it.

Naomi & Luca… and Jake
This was so cute and quirky, I read it in one sitting and I didn’t even stop to post on Instagram 🤣.Naomi and Luca are pen since fifth grade and have never met! Over the span of 20 years, their weird, admittedly aggressive letters turn into a deep friendship that survives life hurdles, celebrations, moves across the country and heart ache until Luca disappears for 2 whole years before a new letter reaches Naomi but it doesn’t have a return address. Naomi, regretting never giving in to meeting Luca in real life, decides to go on a cross country quest to trace back Luca’s steps, finally find him and get closure! The problem is that she is torn between her loyalty to Luca and her new feelings towards her neighbour Jake who has made her feel like no one else in her whole life! The comebacks and wit of the dialogue in this book was INSANE 👌🏻. Add a mix of the CUTEST rescue animals, a completely bonkers sidekick and ALL THE FEELS, and this was ended up being a true hidden gem for me!LOVE LOVE LOVED IT 🥰
