HP LaserJet Enterprise M712dn Monochrome Printer with built-in Ethernet & 2-sided printing (CF236A), Grey

Got the printer delivered and was replacing a 20 year old HP5200. Was very excited for the new features and good quality print this unit is advertised to have.Unfortunately I set it up and kept hearing a grinding sound when feeding paper (which would not feed). After tons of diagnostic work and just shifting things around I found a little plastic wheel tab on the right that wasn't aligned in the feed mechanism. Put it in the right place and started feeding paper like buttah.But then my settings didn't quite work--I could do some paper sizes in the duplexer but not all. And some issues with landscape v portrait. Some online sleuthing told me that Apple's AirPrint driver wasn't fully compatible with this printer. Great.I had the printer connected via Ethernet cable, which required the AirPrint driver. So I replaced it with USB and now it all works like a charm.I cannot imagine how I would have gotten this thing to work if I wasn't a nerd. Good luck!

This replaces another HP printer I had for about 14 years — with more or less the same features. Except this one does 2-sided copies. The best feature, for me, is its energy-efficient standby mode. With my older machine, because it sits right behind my chair, I'd turn it on every time I needed it, wait for it to warm-up, and then turn it off immediately so I didn't have to listen to the constant "hum" behind my chair. With this new model, once it's on and warmed up, it can stay on because it's entirely silent. When you need to print, it wakes up in just a few seconds, makes the prints, and goes back to sleep. There's really nothing not to like about this machine. One irritant: it does not come with a printed manual. Also, this machine is heavy — you'll need someone else to help you carry it into position.

According to a rep at HP, anything you buy from a third party vendor on Amazon is not covered from the day YOU purchase, but from the day THEY (the third party vendor) purchased it from HP. I'm trying to get to the bottom of this, as the third party vendor denies this, but they are not willing to put it in writing. Why are things so complicated? This should be part of the LISTING on Amazon when you purchase. Also, this appeared to be factory sealed, until I opened the carton. Inside it was clearly not. THAT should also be specified. I would never purchase this way again. Too risky.

I bought this for a ten person office to replace an older HP model This was easy to setup and it print very quickly.It is bit noisy but nothing too uncomfortable. It is a pain to turn off. WhenI push the power button it sleeps. I found if you hold the power button it actually turns off. I bought and extra tray and additional ,memory and it work flawlessly. I bought the additional memory from another seller and it works fine. (512MB Memory for HP LaserJet Enterprise 700 Printer M712dn (PARTS-QUICK BRAND) for $20)It is a pain to turn off. When I push the power button it sleeps. I found if you hold the power button it actually turns off.

The printer that was delivered does not work. Zero assistance from the seller. Buyer beware - do not order from this company.

Perfect for our application. This machine is really an over achiever and really has stood up to the abuse it gets.

This is a really nice printer. We now have 2. We use them to make color labels.
