It worked! I saved money and time by using this carburetor rather than rebuilding the old one.
I received this carburetor in the time I expected it and it was adequately packaged. I removed the original Huayi #951-05251, 170SB calibration carburetor on a year old (2017) craftsman snow thrower (26”) with a “Quiet Technology” MTD 270QU engine. I replaced it with this carburetor. The only significant difference was the direction the fuel inlet faced. I moved the fuel inlet about 1/4 turn to face the same direction as the original Hauyi carb. All linkages (choke and throttle) were the same. After I installed it, I tested the engine, and it started on the second pull! The reason the original carb failed was that the previous owner didn’t drain the fuel and run the engine until it stopped. This is an important maintenance step. Also, add fuel stabilizer to the tank and your fuel container. I suggest you use fuel that doesn’t have ethanol added, which tends to destroy rubber and neoprene gaskets, fouling the carburetor. This fuel can be bought from commercial lawn service centers and certain gas stations. Just ask if they have fuel WITHOUT added ethanol. I was surprised I could buy a carb that was less expensive than a rebuilding kit.

From no hope of starting to starting on 1st pull
My Troy-Bilt (MTD) StormTracker 2690 "popped" and then wouldn't start. Although the carb looked clean, I figured the jets were likely clogged. I pulled it off and was planning to get some carb cleaner and do a deep clean but found this. For about $10 I figured it wouldn't be much more than a can of cleaner and a whole lot less work and mess (and as hard as it is to get off and back on with this snow blower, I didn't want to put it back together more than once--plus it was still snowing, so a trip to the auto parts store wasn't without risk). This carb came quickly and appeared nearly identical to the original. The gaskets in the original were still in great shape, so I didn't try the new ones with the carb, nor did I use the fuel filter, new fuel line, or new primer--but had I needed them, they looked like they would have worked.I bolted this new carb in, attached the hoses and cables, primed it 3 times and pulled the start cord (not expecting much)--it started right up! After putting all the shielding back on last night I spent at least 2 hours this morning snow blowing and I'm not sure this thing ran as good when it was brand new (~10 years ago). Great value, and much less work than deep cleaning :-)

Great value
All I needed was the float bowl gasket. But this kit was a buyer value incase something else goes wrong with the carb. Bonus spark plug, now started on second pull, no starter motor needed.

Varnish who?
I was working on a snowblower that the person left gas sit in it for a long time. Soaked the old carb 3 times in chem dip, along with carb needles and couldnt get it to run. Save yourself the hassle and spend the 15 bucks for this kit. Its a bargain.

Good item, great buy
The carburetor was a direct replacement. Snow blower started right up after installation and ran perfectly. The remaining parts were a quick replacement and performed as expected. Great price for the kit, ready for the snow!

whether the carburetor is bad or not
Everything was fine, used it for my snow blower, runs fine now. My suggestion to others is to remove carburetor first and check it out. This is the third one I have replaced in as many years and this one I found that if I had removed it first, before buying a new one, that a can of carb cleaner would have solved the problem.
