Disconnected a gas fire place, used this to block off bottom of fireplace, I was a bit dubious but item seems extremely sturdy, and was easy to install and pump up, however it is inflated by mouth so much like filling a large balloon, close valve, job done.

We've got an open chimney, however we're not allowed to use the fireplace because of then tenancy agreement. Weird I know, so in the winter months it would get very cold with all the air coming down the chimney. So we bought this in an attempt to stop that. It worked, very well. It's a bit awkward to do on your own depending on your chimney, but once it's inflated and in place it stops 90%-95% of the draft. It's fairly sturdy too as pigeons land on our chimney and knock bits down it. It didn't burst. Certainly worth trying!

The idea is good but the balloon material or plastic balloon is not thick enough to prevent it getting scratched and so punctured by the bricks. Mine lasted about two weeks for it kept falling down after deflation. Wont be recommending this. The material would need to be as strong as a plastic rubble bags to stop puncturing so easily

This product worked well, needed re inflating once a week maybe. But it split during the high winds this week.

Wonderful product - stops the draught, says all on the tin. Even if it is a bit big, because it expands it will fit quite nicely to most of the chimneys.One thing to remember is that it is not easy to blow. You either need a pump to remove/put back in or you just don't do it. You may want to think about some other products if this is for your main chimney. I used it in our least used chimney.On that note, the loss of the temperature on the room I have used it definitely minimised. Previously, that room would go down to 10-15 degrees C, now it stays around 18 degrees C (yes the weather is also improving but not to that level). Worth trying!

The chimney balloon draught excluder is of average quality. While it initially works to block drafts, it deflates too quickly, requiring frequent reinflation. Unfortunately, this undermines its effectiveness and convenience. Given these issues, I wouldn’t recommend it for those looking for a reliable solution to keep their home warm.

A pump makes inflation much easier. Do not always stay inflated despite showing no apparent leaks from balloon. May be leaking valves. Some balloons have stayed inflated for over 10 years
