Good Spread
I can’t give 5stars because it’s a bit too sweet for my taste & quite expensive. It’s good on bread for breakfast.

Tastes great!
I wish it were a slightly bigger container for the price, but I like it enough that I can forgive it. The taste is actually great, better than I had expected. Would get this again!

Delicious matcha spread!
This is really tasty! I tried a little bit on a bit of shokupan and it was amazing, but when I added some along with plain custard to my taiyaki filling it was next level - warm and mixed with the pastry cream it was otherworldly! Its really delicious - if you like things like matcha cakes and other sweetened matcha desserts and drinks, you will adore this!

Silky smooth
This is an interesting concept, honestly I can’t decide if I love this sesame paste or hate it. The look of it is unappealing, it most definitely is dark in color. The smell is nice, and the flavor is good but I’m not sure how versatile it is, so far it’s been good on toast and crackers. Im wondering if there is something that it would be traditionally served with that I am missing though. It would certainly be a unique addition to a charcuterie board.

Black sugar saturated fat dip
Product smells better than it tastes. Smells almost of Nutella or Nature Valley peanut butter granola bar. The taste is more like plain whipped fat and sugar. Smoother than a cookie dough but just thick. It won't rinse off your finger under hot water so when they say hydrogenated oil, they are not kidding. We have a chocolate lab that will eat most anything and he growled at me after he smelled it. The combination of canola oil, fully hydrogenated palm oil, fully hydrogenated vegetable oil and soybean lecithin make this a total no go for those seeking to avoid Congenital Heart Disease. I got suckered in by the label, Black Sesame but the Mrs. insists this will not be in our diet nor pantry. For those wondering fully hydrogenated fats contain virtually no trans fats.

Delicious!
This is an 8.8 oz jar of black sesame paste from Taiwan. Whole black sesame seeds are ground to a nutty paste for use on breads, in pastries, as a dip, etc.. The ingredients are: black sesame, canola oil, sugar, fully hydrogenated palm oil, fully hydrogenated vegetable oil, soybean lecithin, vanilla, tocopherols concentrate, mixed. I had concerns about the fully hydrogenated oils and found that they don’t pose the same risks as trans fat. The difference between partially hydrogenated and fully hydrogenated fats is that the partial hydrogenation creates trans-fats, while fully hydrogenated, the oil returns to a “zero trans-fat” level. They are said to be safe in small amounts. The instructions on the container are to spread on toasted bread. I put it on a toasted bagel. It has the creaminess and taste of a nut butter but sweeter and more like something in a pastry. It is delicious! If I had a recipe that called for it for a holiday or other special occasion, I would splurge.

Not just mashed garlic
I was expecting this to be mostly mashed garlic, but it really is a garlic flavored solid-oil spread with a lot of fillers - garlic doesn't even come in until the third ingredient on the list, after canola and palm oils. It's also extremely salty! The instructions are to spread generously on bread, which is what I did, and regretted how salty it was for as much as I used. It also burns fairly quickly, Much faster than a traditional butter-based garlic bread… So be sure to keep a very close eye on it!The flavor is OK, I do wish it was a bit less salty so I could actually enjoy the strong garlic. But with as salty as it is I can only spread a very thin amount and I feel I need to supplement it with more butter/garlic, so what's the point?
