I received a review copy of this start up guide from Mr. Tokan and was pleased with it's approach and honest, frank advice to the reader. A good primer for the burgeoning entrepreneur and future business owner.

I was sent a copy of this book by the author to review and found it to be a very informative read. 'Employee to Business Owner' is a useful and relevant book on successfully making the transition from paid employee to running your own business, including suggestions on how to work part time while setting up the new business. The tips on managing time as well as the outline of how to structure and create a Business Plan were particularly helpful.Three things in particular set this book apart from others I have read on starting a business.Firstly, Boomy does not gloss over the fact that starting a business and making it work requires hard work and sacrifice. Many writers, perhaps in a misguided attempt to tell people what they want to hear, gloss over the difficulties and make starting your own business seem like a very easy thing to do. Not only does this mislead their readers, it can also be extremely discouraging for people when they experience the hard reality for themselves. Managing your own business is not the easy option and for the first few years requires a great deal of time and dedication.Secondly, Boomy goes into some detail when discussing the impact of your business on family life. He usefully outlines ways in which to develop an understanding of and buy in to your project. This would be helpful for those who may find that their family are not happy about the amount of time spent working on the business.Finally, there is a list of suggestions on ways in which monthly costs can be reduced while getting your business up and running. This provides some helpful tips on how to optimise your outgoings.

This is a very useful guide for any employee. It provides practical advice for decision making even if at the end you decide that you are better off where you are! Boomy provides plenty of anecdotal support for his ideas that make one think about the issues at hand. A really easy read.

Very helpful for an entry level entrepreneur. Quick read and to the point. I'd recommend this to younger people along with Boomy's book How to Write A Business Plan.

Recommended
