Tirifer 100W Voltage Converter Travel Adapter, Power Converter AC110V/120V to 220V/240V Step-Up & Down Voltage Converter Transformer

For those of us that live outside of the USA that travel to the USA, this SW-S12 is a very handy item. I have a shaver that positively needs at least 120V AC supply to charge it. My toothbrush needs 240V to properly charge it. This item is perfect for that job. It is a little heavy as you would expect, since it would contain a transformer (so solid copper and steel inside that thing). It does have the functionality of being able to be switched either way (120V -> 240V or 240V -> 120V), so those in the USA traveling to other countries and have devices that need 120V AC or less, then this is still the item for you. It can only do up to 100W, but that is way more than you need for your typical bathroom items (except for hair straighteners and hair dryers - they are typically power hungry).It is probably worth noting that it does not have an earth as such, so whilst you can plug something in that has an earth terminal on it, that device should be double insulated.Overall, I have made good use of it during my holiday in the USA.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:Not even close to 100 watts. Stops working with a 60 watt load

Works exactly as it should. Did not smoke, did not overheat (after about 15-20 minutes use). The casing seems to be robust. Good for traveling.Bear in mind that it does not convert frequency, i.e. if your machines operates on 50Hz and you are in a country that provides electricity with 60Hz, your machine is going to perform suboptimally.

I bought 2 and they work to up convert 120(110) to 240(230). I got them to run a pair of Focal studio monitors purchased in Europe. The speakers are able to play up to VERY uncomfortable sound levels without any sign they are not being supplied enough power, even when playing deep bass. They have never gotten noticeably hot while under heavy use. I can't say these are recommended for their current use, but not sure I would try this with the lesser model.There is no line noises usually associated with with a "dirty" or improperly grounded power source.They're very heavy, but fit advertised dimensions. 2 of them will dominate most power strips and might completely consume a wall outlet so nothing else can be plugged in there with them.

Poor quality and dangerous cost cutting products. 100w transformer unit popped, melted, and died with only 37w load after a few weeks.

Neat and small transformer. Fits well in wall plugs.

Works well so far. Got an electrical tree which works on 220v as gift.
