Strong backing plates
Thick metal for the backing plates , fit perfect , others complain on no bolts ?? none came , BUT your trailer already has them !

Very disappointed in the product.
Shipping box and product box were torn apart. Wiring was cut in half and I had to fix that. The brake shoes have missing chunks out of them. The shoes had to be re aligned on the backing plate because they were damaged. Very disappointed in the product.

Does not come with all hardware shown
The brake assembly looks to be of decent quality, however this does not come with the other hardware shown in the photos. Very misleading.

I may know what's happening here, please read before you buy.
When I received this the packing was bad. You can't pack flimsy hub covers in a box with 8 lug drums and expect it to arrive undamaged. The nuts were all over the box and both hub covers were destroyed beyond fixing with a hammer. My guess is many people would return this. By the time it made it back to the sender it would no longer have lug nuts, and the dust covers would look like a quarter that was placed on the railroad tracks. If the returns get back on the shelf to be sold again they would be missing both items. If the dust covers were placed inside the hub before shipment they may survive but they are loose inside the box with the lug nuts. I did not get any nuts to bolt the back plate on. I purchased new dust covers and the missing nuts (3/8 NF) qty 5 for each hub. You may need to do the same. They claim to self adjust. I'm not so sure they do. These brakes will not lock up with my brakes set on 10 (maximum). Even with the trailer empty in gravel they will not slide. I have pulled this trailer roughly 200 miles and I feel a slight tug when I apply the trailer brakes by hand. I hear the magnet arm release when I let go so I know they're working but it's weak and not sufficient for the 8500 lb machine I have on the trailer that is capable of 14000 lb load. These were the cheapest brakes of this size on Amazon. $180 for a pair. My advice is to spend more and buy something better. That is what I am going to do today. "Brakes aren't important, they just slow you down" Is something my boss used to say. It's true until you need to stop quickly. I imagine a school bus on a corner with lights flashing and that is all it takes for me to realize that what I have is inadequate. I need to do my best & give myself the best chance to make that situation no big deal. This was not it. If you are wondering I did the traditional maneuver to self adjust brakes by backing and applying the brakes at least 20 times. No change resulted at all. If I am idling in gear and fully apply the brakes it's 6 seconds till I stop and it's a very soft stop (trailer brake only). If I was moving at normal speed I could have lunch before the trailer brakes alone got me stopped. I don't think I'm exaggerating! I hope this helps you make an informed decision because this is too important of a decision to make without some real information. That's why I took the time today to share my experience with you.* Update: I took the hubs back off and adjusted the brakes by hand until i could barely get the hub back on. They were way out of adjustment so i was pretty sure they would stop like crazy. There was a very slight improvement. It Still wont slide the tires in gravel, Still not good enough. I'd say they are OK with an empty trailer but not even close with it loaded.

Product as ecpected
Product as expected.Shipped box was destroyed when it arrived. To be expected I guess with the quality of courier service these days. It’s a heavy article and I am not certain how it can be shipped without this. Product was all there and as advertised

Good product, Crappy packaging !!!
Product seems like it would have been pretty decent if it had been packaged better & not subjected to terrible shipping !! Returning is too much hassle & time , so I'll live with the chip out of 1 shoe & I'll reinstall both self adjusters & use them ! But they need to DO BETTER on the PACKAGING & SHIPPING !!
