Great for its price
I have received this Majesun Car OBD2 scanner, to review on behalf of Amazon. It arrived promptly and well packaged.I have had some rocky times with mechanics and fault codes. Im now at the point where I feel I cant trust mechanics, so I thought this would help with at least knowing what I could be walking into. The scanner is well made and fits well to our 2 cars. Just to get a mechanic to tell you the fault from a diagnostic tool is up to £50, at least for me. The menu is easy to use and so far have had no issues with it.

OBD2 scanner
I am not a professional mechanic but had always had an interest in cars. There have been times when a fault develops with a car that I had owned in the past but I could only guess what the issue is. This device should help in future in reading fault codes that may occur. There is not much in the way of documentation and the manual that is supplied is printed using quite a small font. I have been looking at YT videos and searching the web to gain a better understanding of what can be done and what the entries mean.At the moment I just tested this unit by plugging it into the OBD2 port on my car and scanned for any codes. As expected there was none but at least I now have a way of looking at any fault codes that may occur and see if I can fix or take to the garage. I also can see if the garage is doing work in resolving the problem.I think devices like this are useful for people who like to take an interest and can save money so the initial cost of £36 seems good value especially if there is opportunity to save money.

Great diagnostic tool - works well
I'm no mechanic but after a fault light came on and I took my car to the garage I was then charged £35 just to plug one of these in and re-set a fault. (yes, there was issues "potentially" causing the fault), but that cost me even more on top.So, when this came up I thought I better see what it does. It's well made, quite robust but very lightweight. I'm guessing theres not much to them internally, just some electronics etc.The cable is securely connected (permanently) and the plug on the end is of decent quality and fits nicely in the OBD port. The display is a good size and the buttons all operate perfectly. The layout works well and the device itself is pretty intuitive. There is a USB-C port on the base (which I thought was a charging port) no reference is made to this in manual, but it's for downloading data and linking to a pc/laptop etcPower is supplied directly via the OBD port in your car.I was pleased to note there were no faults on my car (as expected) and also happy to note that the battery was charging perfectly. These tasks I easily discovered just by using the device and exploring options.I took this to my workmate, who was a mechanic and he plugged it into one of his project cars. Lots of fault codes were highlighted. Some could be re-set. Some stayed off.Major safety faults cannot be re-set, they just come back immediately - this is to be expected.Google is a great help for understanding these codes and helping you decide if you need to get to a garage quickly or if re-setting and waiting to see if it comes back is an option. It won't fix problems. It's a diagnostic tool. But it would have saved me £35 if I just went to the garage and told them the code.A great tool to have - just in case.

Cannot fault this, saved me a trip to the garage!
I've had recent trouble with my Lexus IS250 (2008). Specifically, it wouldn't start. I confirmed after charging it overnight with a trickle charger and then testing the following day, that it was related to my battery. Batter level seemed to drop quickly, so I suspected it was at fault, but couldn't be sure. So, I ordered a new battery and fitted it, but still wasn't sure if something else was at fault, such as the alternator. So, that's where this little device came in handy. It plugged straight into the OBD port on my car and lit up instantly (powered through the port). I didn't read any instructions, I just switched it on. From there, I was able to scan and view any remaining error codes, but more importantly, I was able to check battery levels (after a week and a bit's use), charging levels, perform a crank test and check the charging voltages. All easily to navigate, easy to understand. And, as I say, without having to check anything against the manual. I'm now assured that my car battery level is normal, my charging is normal. This thing will come in handy when diagnosing faults in the future. It's simple to use, the interface is clear. It's very responsive and bright enough to read on a somewhat unusually sunny day! Fast to operate, clear on the instructions; such as when to rev above 2500 revs for charging test or when to start the engine for crank tests.A simple little device that worked well. Please I was able to test what I did. If there's one minor criticism, it would have been nice if this had some kind of protective case/bag to stop it getting knocked about, but that's a very minor point.

Alright in a pinch
This isn't your average generic OBD2 scanner... but it's not a million miles away from it.This tool will show you a lot of advanced information that the average-joe will never need to know but it can be useful in certain scenarios. The only reason that I have knocked a star off is that on my specific use case it was not giving me the accurate fault code, when compared to another diagnostic tool. The menu is fairly easy to navigate but I feel like the buttons on the device could be labelled better. The battery and alternator tests have been particularly useful recently, an excellent function. For the price, it's great.
