"jeremy deller and iggy pop? take my money now!" i said
iggy's body has been a crucial element of his public persona throughout his career so in putting him naked in front of a very mixed group of artists for the brooklyn museum, jeremy deller actioned both a stroke of genius and a total no-brainer - it's impossible to think of a public figure more suitable for the project.this book showcases the resulting sketches and studies and raises questions not just about drawing style, ability and confidence, but also how we inhabit flesh and "stardom" and the lenses it places on how we view and respond to it.all of the drawings are interesting, a few of them are sublime and the in-depth interview with iggy and accompanying examples from the brooklyn museum collection illustrating ideas of body are worth the price of the book alone.the book itself is typical of brooklyn museum publications - beautifully printed and bound - the tactile pink sleeve is a nice little extra touch.a great addition to anyone's art (or iggy) collection.
