The installation is extremely easy with all the included guides, it doesn’t take much time. Video quality is great despite the selected fisheye mode (image correction), although It would be better if the image was not distorted in its edges when turning on the correction, but anyway quality isn’t decreased. Motion detection for several actors is available, as in any other Tapo camera, so it can be used not just as a video doorbell but as a camera. The included chime is louder than expected, but it’s wifi range is not as good as the doorbell one (both devices tested at the same location away from the router). To summarize, it is a great doorbell for its value. Would recommend if you have a strong wifi signal otherwise consider adding a repeater somewhere in between to avoid connectivity loss and little delay live video.

This thing is pretty neat. I bought it during a sale and got an incredible deal, so the price was definitely right (especially since shipping took almost three weeks). The video quality is really nice though, even at night you can see everything clearly, which gives me peace of mind. It's easy to set up too, just follow the instructions in the app. I did have a bit of trouble connecting it to my Google Home but after restarting the router twice, it worked fine (I think sometimes my internet goes down when I'm not looking).It has all the features you'd expect from a modern smart doorbell like two-way audio and AI detection for people and cars. It even works with Alexa if that's your thing. The only downside is that it doesn't come with an SD card, so you'll have to buy one separately if you want to store footage locally. Overall though, I think this is a great product, especially considering the price. My neighbor bought a different brand and paid way more for less features (he also complains about his internet going down all the time, maybe it's just our area).

I recently swapped out all of my various Google Nest Cameras for Tapo models and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. The Tapo D230S1 checks off almost all boxes of what I had hoped the Nest Battery Doorbell was. The image quality, field of view and color night vision is superb. The setup is easy and went very smoothly. I have had this for a while now and my battery life is still good. Most importantly, you can add a micro SD card to the hub and it records clips locally without having to subscribe to a service like Nest Aware for this feature. The motion detection is good, however, the range is maybe a little less than the Nest. The audio quality is fine. It's not great by any means but everything is audible and clear. I'll say that Google Nest Cameras crush the competition when it comes to audio quality. The aesthetic, while subjective, is not my favorite and, frankly, I think it's pretty ugly. It's boxy and clunky and looks like it was developed in the early 2000's or something. The latest announcement at CES 2024 promises a new design battery doorbell, the D225, which looks MUCH better and I will be scooping that up whenever it's released. All in all, I'm really happy with this and the rest of my Tapo Cameras.

The Tapo Smart Video Doorbell is super cool for my house! Setting it up was really fast and easy, and it connects to the internet without any problems. The video looks clear, even when it’s dark outside, and the motion detector does a great job without bothering me too much.I really like the smart stuff, like being able to talk to people and get notifications on my phone, so I can see and chat with visitors from anywhere! The battery lasts a long time, and it feels strong and sturdy. If you want a good smart doorbell that doesn’t cost a lot, this one is awesome! I totally recommend it!

This review has nothing to do with the device but rather TP Link's customer support. I needed to source a replacement mounting bracket, an item worth no more than ten cents at best, something they were unable to do. They offered to RMA the entire unit and provide me with a new one, the only stipulation being the shipping each way would be my dime.They knew I had purchased a number of other Tapo devices over the holidays planning to install this spring and you would have thought at a minimum they could have simply shipped me a replacement doorbell gratis, a model that appears to be discontinued or close to it or at least cannibalized one for the 10 cent mounting bracket but no, all the initial return and replacement processes were simply presented again.While I've spent a significant amount on all the other devices including this one, I'm hesitant to proceed with using any if this is how poor their support is and will now be considering other brands,
