Tools are good quality and work very well.

There is nothing wrong at all with this set of tools, never let the price fool you. I'm sure for the professional turner, they would think the tools to be sub-par; however, for the weekend warrior like me, they are truly up to par! Sufficient for all my purposes and desired results! Out of the box they seem not perfect, as the edge looks like not sharp. After testing each on a piece of Cherry, I put them all to my grinder and then with a sharp edge, they simply performed very fine up to my expectation. The 1/2 spindle gouge took a little more grinding on the sides, but all in all, I am happy with this set of tools to be able to fulfill all what I am doing. And all 8 tools for less than the price of one "professional" 1-inch skew chisel!! My words: I am absolutely satisfied!

The chisels are adequate for the work I need to do - they remind me of the quality of the lathe tools I had used in Junior High shop class in the 70's. This is pretty much what I had expected for the price point. The Amazon packaging was well done - no damage to be seen. When I opened the package, the lathe tools were in another box - also undamaged to the sight. But when I took the item out of the box the wooden box for the set was in horrible shape as can be seen in the included picture. I've reassembled the box, but have many doubts about the longevity since the top and bottom are simply a thin veneer - probably 1mm thick. At some point I may replace the top and bottom with thicker material. It was surprising that the chisels were in good shape. The only thing to note is that one of the ferules had released from a chisel handle; this was easily remedied.

I love these lathe chisels! Fantastic value for the price. You’ll need to sharpen them before the first use, but once sharpened they hold their edges well and work like a charm.These are high quality HSS tools and hold their edges twice as long as the harbor freight chisels, so this more than justifies the slightly higher price.The tools come in an attractive wooden case which keeps them organized and ready to use in the shop. Overall I’m very happy with my purchase and would recommend them to others.

When I ordered these, I didn't expect the level of quality that these tools are. A good lathe tool can run upwards of $100.00 a piece. This whole set cost less than one of those turning tools. There certainly is a quality difference, but these work just fine and most people will be able to produce some really nice work with them.The blades are made out of M42 Steel, which is excellent for turning tools. M42 is one of the better steels for keeping blades sharp and strong, even under very heavy use.With such a nice set of turning tools, I was stumped on why the tools are just loose in the wooden box. There isn't even a slot to hold them in. They are simply laying flat in the box. Just like a socket set, they can't move around in the box if the box is closed, but they certainly can when the box is open. Even a simple loop, to slide the blade under, holding it in place would have been nice. I would also like to have had a little handle on the box to carry to wood case.

These are ok. One broke on me within a week. I'd suggest investing in something of a higher caliber.

Great quality for the price! This was the first set I purchased to use with my Jet lathe. Very good quality and the blades seem to hold a good edge. You can tell the quality is there and better priced than other sets I have seen.
