Doesn’t stay on THREAD network
My other thread devices work fine. I did everything I could come up with a solution that kept them online. They drop off the network within 24 hours. I have a I have an Apple thread border gateway. The instructions state that’s sometimes the thread network needs 24 hours to adapt to the installation which is never been the case on the other devices. That just says to me that they do not have a product that actually works yet. I have several of their Wi-Fi based products and they work fine.

Usually good
I bought a few of these for my smart home due to the Matter over Thread functionality. They are generally pretty good, but I do have a couple that will go offline and have to be reset to get working again. Also had one stop working as a plug all together, so now it just a Thread router.

Firmware Update is the key to 5 Star Satisfaction
FYI: Must update to have a 5 star experience! These smart plugs work great once you update them to the most current firmware. Prior to updating they will disconnect from the thread network often. You must download the Onvis app and follow the step by step instructions to update in the app. If you update it you will have a 5 star experience. If you don’t you will have a 1 star experience. Update and you will love this smart plug.

Intermittently intermittent - Look elsewhere if you need something reliable
These devices are so frustrating to use that I had to write a review. I have a robust thread network in my house with around 20 devices, using HomeKit architecture. Guess which plugs are problematic? There are only three options currently: the Eve Energy thread plugs, expensive but reliable, Belkin thread plugs, which will drop signal every now and then but eventually reconnect, and the Onvis thread plug, which are even worse than the Belkins at going offline. The Onvis plug connected straight away, but way too often lose the connection. Forget using them for automations because they only trigger maybe one in three times. What really makes this a one star product is that sometimes they turn themselves off for no reason! Even the Belkins don't do this. There is no reason to buy these to save money, because the frustration they will bring will make you want to destroy them anyway and you are back at square one. So disappointed in Onvis for releasing this clearly untested product.

Far too unreliable; Degrades performance of other Thread devices
The recent update seems to have worked. After two months, performance is just as you would expect and requires zero upkeep. I highly recommend.Caveat: I love in a two story loft apartment, therefore distance is not a concern. Your mileage may vary if you live in a larger space, but that would also apply to wifi, zigbee, or z wave devices as well.Update: 12 Feb 2025My my things have changed. Over the last several weeks the performance of these plugs has completely deteriorated to the point that one of my daily automations fails between three and four times a week. I initially noticed that other thread devices were performing unreliably as well, so I deleted and rebuilt my thread network from scratch and continued to experience incredibly unreliable performance. At that point, I decided to remove each of my three plugs one by one each day and on day three (after deleting the last of three plugs), everything returned to normal. Even my notoriously unreliable Nanoleaf bulbs are back up and running.Overall recommendation: switch to ZigBee or z wave plugs until other, more reliable matter over thread plugs are made available.

At first I gave it one star, but now I say five stars!
So these products are not shipped with the correct firmware and in order to get the correct firmware you have to download it in their app, which is one of the worst apps I’ve ever tried to use. It took a long time to finally get the correct firmware, but once I got the correct firmware installed, these smart plugs have been the most reliable smart plugs I’ve ever used in my life. Five stars!!!

Does not remember state through power glitch
I don’t know if this is a bug in these units, or a bug in the Matter+Thread specification. Regardless, these plugs all come up set to “off” regardless of what state they were in when they were powered off. This makes them highly unsatisfactory for any sort of serious use. It only takes 1 bit to remember state — there really is no excuse for this behavior.
