I loved this as a child growing up in Michigan, we would go to a deli and have a slice. This definitely brings back memories from my childhood and it is delicious.

I was hoping for a good, NY-authentic, 7 layer cake. But I was disappointed to find it unsatisfying. Being born and raised in the Bronx, I think I know what the standard is supposed to be; and have had some shipped to me from NY to my home in Virginia in the past; by other bakeries, with good results. This cake was delivered on time; but it obviously was bounce around, and all the chocolate frosting was stuck on the plastic container. That didn't bother me that much, since I was able to "reassemble" (ugly but still tasty). BUT, I found the "cake part" to be dry and not very tasty (it didn't seem fresh enough, even accounting for shipping time). Most disappointing, the crème filling between layers was almost non-existent. I will not re-order.

Bakeries have mostly closed around my area, so I haven't had a really great 7 layer cake in awhile. This is delicious but I must say the amount of outer icing is a little too much and the filling in between the layers is too little. I've never been known to complain about too much really rich, thick, chocolate icing however it is just a little too thick for the ratio of actual cake. The layers are supposed to be thin, but these are more of a cake texture than the dryer, almost crisper style of torte layer of the old days. It is a very tasty cake and almost hit the mark for what my taste buds were waiting for. I must say read the instructions about freezing so you are able to remove the wax paper outer layers without damaging the frosting or the cake. It is packaged very well and with care.

This probably was a very good cake soon after it was made, but it is getting a little old and the cake is getting dry.

I love your cake. Reminds me of childhood

I was disappointed. It wasn't frozen when it arrived so it was no longer fresh. The cream on each layer was stingy. The texture was mostly good. The cake was dry. I liked the taste.I gave it an extra star because the shipping and delivery was fast. Because of the issues I would not purchase it again.
