Instructions would be useful
Lots of parts without obvious use. Have drill press and copious other tools, but part too big for offside use with a press. So trying this. Trying to guess if it works and is safe with my Forstner bit. What do each of the collets mean? What are the little pins? What is the long pin for? I think it might work and create an accurate 90 degree 2-dimensional hole but won't know how and if it will until I try. Instructions missing, and only with image of product on Amazon site. Read both sides. Unclear to me. I'm still guessing.

Don’t believe the size etched on the guides.
Package contained 2-3/16” guides and one was marked 1/4”. Have not used it yet as I needed the 1/4” for 3/8” lag screws. The guides fit pretty tight and seems durable…we will see.

You’ll be surprised
Accurate, easy to use, versatile. Works for most board widths. Would be nice to have an option for wider boards.

Drill guide
Drill guide kitThe drill guide bushings let the drill bit wobble a little but not big enough for the next size drill bit(1/64” bigger) to fit. It’s better than guessing and the few things I used it on were accurate enough, more than I’ll ever get with a hand held drill. I have the Big Gator drill guide as well and got this for the clear base to better see center lines. Either one I would center punch the holes center line and set the drill into it then use this for keeping square to the material. Any more accuracy need a drill press or mill.

Works great!
I needed to drill straight holes without the natural offset that guessing brings. I've drilled about 50 holes so far, 3/8" and 1/2". I'll say if you don't want to damage the piece you're working on, you initially have to hold the guide down with some force. But if "damaging" the work piece doesn't matter, there are 2 holes that you can use a screw or nail to keep the guide steady. I held the guide down and drilled away and was able to drill these 50 holes perfectly straight with a little wiggle as fatigue allowed. I can't speak much for longevity of the guide system, but it already paid for itself with a lot more drilling life left in it. I'd buy it again.

Good product, but could be improved
This kit is definitely helpful for aligning your drill bit on the center of a cylinder, but you have to hold the guide down with one hand in order for it to work. It would be a much better product if there was a way to conveniently clamp the guide in place, so you would both hands free to hold the drill steady as you drill and avoid snapping drill bits or getting a weak start. My guide started to get pretty scratched up after a while, but I think that may have been because my helper kept dipping the drill bit in the dirt to cool it off quickly between drillings, and the dirt started to find it's way into the guide where it caused scraping between the metal sizing insert and the plastic guide shaft.

pretty handy
while not a perfect product, it was a great help to what I was trying to do. I had to drill 5 inch deep holes in reclaimed cedar wood for floating shelves. I was nervous about drilling straight and also that each hole was aligned to make the shelf hang straight. I feel like the guides did help with keeping me angled straight, though there seems to be a bit of play - still, it helped a good deal in my opinion. Also, the feature where you rotate so the pins are against the sides makes it so easy to know you are drilling right in the center. For that alone I was thankful. So all in all, I would recommend, especially for the price! It was a great help to making my shelf project successful!
