Ground mat
Great mat but wish it would come with a grounding plug instead of just with a terminal.

Good Mat
A little smaller than I expected but, it did exactly what I needed. It was a little hard to locate the wrist strap without completely opening the package and unrolling the mat. Advice to future buyers... unroll the mat and let it sit for about 24 hours so it flattens completely. Otherwise, it works beautifully.

Smells very bad at first but it goes away.
It stinks but works!

This is a real ESD mat meeting ISO and dissipation standards not a hobby mat, know the difference.
Perfect. Next near identical mat is twice as much. This is a real anti statice mat and actually tests in spec. However know what you are buying. The better the mat, the thicker and stiffer it is and harder to get the roll out. These are not meant to roll up and put away and only pull back out for hobby projects. These are meant for factory assembly lines and repair shops. If you don't have a dedicated space/workbench for this mat don't buy it. You either have to tape it down, or leave weight and a board on it overnight. My second bench has an industrial grade ESD mat I bought in 2002 for $200 that still wants to roll up on the corners if its not taped down. So being stiff is often a sign of quality with these not cheapness. The back on this one is not a grip layer, its designed to ground the mat to the surface if your using a metal workbench. I prefer to use a table or wood bench so I can use a cable and control whether its grounded or not. Just keep in mind if your bench has a metal surface its going to be grounded automatically. If your an IT pro or enthusiast with a dedicated workbench for it, I cant recommend it enough

No instructions!!!
This may very well be a great product but it literally came with no instructions and I have no idea how to use. I bought this on recommendation while replacing an interior board in a VR controller and thought I bought the one they suggested but the pieces didn’t match what the person recommending was using. Phoned my dad and brother as they have experience using tools to assist with being grounded for computer/other similar electronic repair and also tried a few Google searches but nothing really helped me make sense of how to use what. So using the general advise found, I did what I thought was appropriate and I can’t say I did it right but luckily nothing was fried in the process. Although the VR attempted repair wasnt successful I’m not blaming the grounding for that. Ended up just buying a new controller. Will circle back and attempt to understand this at some point again.

Only for limited use but inexpensive
Material is definitely NOT heat resistant (easily melts with dropped solder or errant iron tip) nor is it puncture resistant (I now have multiple DIP/SIP pin holes in the surface after only a few uses). But it was cheap. If you expect to use it regularly then definitely buy a name brand mat.

durable mat with some initial odor
Well constructed mat with good thickness. Tested with multimeter and is working as intended. It can take a while for it to lay flat, you can try reverse rolling it for a while to help. It has a pretty strong odor that will take a while to go away, like a very strong vinyl/plastic smell. If you are sensitive to smells that is something to consider, but it does go away eventually. Overall a good buy.
