AFFORDABLE, FUN BEGINNER DRONE
This is a great drone for the price. I purchased it for my teen nephew and wanted to evaluate it for myself before I give it to him. Now I am considering buying one for myself. My only other experience with drones is the Mota JetJat Ultra from about 6 years ago; it makes the Q8 look and perform like a Cadillac.OVERAL QUALITY: The drone is well constructed and durable. It comes in a nicely laid out padded case which will help protect the drone and accessories.INSTRUCTIONS: The included instructions are good for a beginner. Definitely watch the operational video accessible by QR code AND additional videos by searching YouTube (there are several). Calibrations are VERY important. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS AND FOLLOW THEM TO THE LETTER FOR MAXIMUM ENJOYMNENT!CUSTOMER SERVICE: Customer service is excellent. Their email address is on the front page of the instructions. I contacted them for information on availability of spares, and they responded the same day. That is a HUGE plus in my book.CONTROLLER: The controller is well made and durable. Controls are easy to manipulate and responsive. Battery life for the controller is OK; you'll probably have to recharge the controller before you run out of flight time with the 3 included drone batteries. Information about the drone such as battery life, distance, and mode are right on the screen. You can operate the drone with a phone; I think that might be best for a beginner in order to learn the basics of navigation.PHONE CONTROL: The drone app really looks great and is easy to download, set-up and operate. I downloaded the Android version, and I didn't have any problems. I didn't try ALL the features because I wanted to explore them with my nephew later. The phone holder holds my old Nexus 6 (Shamu) with no problems, so most smartphones should fit in the holder.BATTERIES: The batteries deliver as promised. They are slightly difficult to insert and remove, but I was being super cautious as it's a gift. Allow a couple hours to charge using a standard USB-C charging cord. DISCLAIMER: Amazon did replace 1 battery due to a defect, but I had the replacement in just a couple days.CAMERA: The camera quality and controls are really good. I didn't spend a lot of time with video as I was trying to improve my drone navigation skills. You won't get professional video with this, but you didn't pay an arm and a leg for the drone either.CONCLUSION: Great if you are wanting to get started with drones and don't want to go broke in the process. Suitable for responsible teens and adults, it's a lot of fun without the stress of an expensive investment.

Rugged. Easy to Use. Amazing Drone that's Great for Beginners or Amateurs!!!
The media could not be loaded. I have had a great time flying this drone and using all the features that it has. I use the drone primarily for scouting out areas that are inaccessible or just to see what's around the corner while hiking or camping. I've also begun to see if I can carry small payloads (fishing lure, bait, etc) and can update when I learn more about doing that. I originally bought the TSRC A6 Drone last year and had such a good experience that I decided I would try their upgraded version called the TSRC Q8. I don't want to make a direct comparison since this is a review of the Q8 itself but the major differences are:Battery: The Q8 has a larger capacity battery which allows for longer flight times which is something everyone likes. I tested the flight time and got a solid 25-30 minutes flight time with the Q8 and about 15-20 minutes with the A6.Controller: The Q8 has an upgraded/redesigned controller which includes a digital display and antennae for wifi extension. I tested its wifi distance capability and will say that it significantly enhanced its range to about double or triple from the A6. This equated to about 3000-4000 feet. The digital display is a great improvement since all the information about the drone such as battery life, distance, mode, etc is right there and you're not relying on the phone app. I noticed on both models that I would fully charge a battery and in the app it would say something like 57% or 40% even though it was fully charged. The controller would show that it was fully charged and gave me a more accurate idea what the battery life actually was.Q8 Features:Video/Photo: The video quality for a drone in this price range is quite phenomenal. If you insert a tf/microsd card into the underside of the drone you will get direct video transfer and thus better quality. All of the pictures I've included were actually only taken with the app so there is some compression of the video/picture file but for my use it is more than good enough. The camera can rotate 90 degrees from forward facing to downward facing and I had zero issues with its freedom of movement. The camera is also held in a simple stabilizer to minimize shaking during flight. Again, for this price range you really can't expect better. More expensive drones will have 3-4 axis gimbals and other stabilization features but unless your using this drone for a videography/photography job it doesn't really matter. The only issue I noticed with the Q8 was when I tried to take night photos. There is a green light that is always on in the underside of the drone near the camera. This resulted in a greenish hue at times when taking downward facing photos. I've included a photo to show what I am talking about. I rarely take it out at night so this was more of an observation then a critique.Flight: The Q8 performs very well at maintaining a steady consistent hover after initial takeoff. This allows you to test the horizontal and vertical movement of the drone before taking it higher or further out. I never had an issue with flying it and it feels very good and responsive.APP Features: I found the GPS FOLLOW feature was what I used and liked best about the drone. You have to activate it in the app but once it has you pinpointed it will track and follow you wherever you go. You do have to carry the controller on you for this feature to work properly. I tested it many times by having it follow me while kayaking and driving my truck. While it is in this mode you can still go up and down vertically but all other controls are disabled until the GPS FOLLOW feature is deactivated in the app. The gesture feature takes a photo of yourself after waving or giving a peace sign up to it. It needs to be relatively close for this to work but its great for taking a group selfie or just a picture of yourself. The image follow feature is nice if you are doing something in the same area but going in a circle or otherwise doing something that would take you out of frame. It will rotate to keep you in the picture but will not follow you if you move away from the drone so that needs to be taken into consideration. The last feature that I liked and used as much as GPS FOLLOW was the INTEREST POINT feature. This feature allows the drone to go in a hovered circle around an area. Once you are in a spot you want to video you go in the app and set the radius it will circle. It then circles said point and you can still move vertically if you want to video getting closer to the interest point. It helps stabilize the drone and is much much easier than trying to manually circle a point of interest.Controller: The controller is great. All of the important information is digitally displayed on the controller so if there is ever a problem with the app or your phones wifi signal, you can still control the drone easily. The return to home, take off//landing, calibration, motor speed, etc are all displayed well and bright for you to see. I did have the phone holder part of the controller break on me but that is likely due to me not being as careful as I should have with it and from a fall or two. During some flights I found that I could just use the magnetic phone mount on the dash of my truck to hold my phone while I flew the drone with the controller. This worked great if your in a park parking lot or somewhere you can fly it from your truck. I was actually using the truck bed cover as a landing pad!Batteries: The newer upgraded batteries helped a lot. They show the battery life remaining from the battery itself with a dotted display that you can check just by long pressing the power button on the side of it. This is much better than the A6 since I can check battery life without having to insert it into the drone and check on the app. Now everything is shown from the outside. They also moved the charger port to in the inside so it isn't exposed to the elements anymore. Also, there is now two tabs on the sides you press in to detach the battery from the dron instead of the awkward button on the A6 that made inserting and removing the battery a bit more difficult, especially those people with larger fingers.Durability: I am still amazed to this day how well this drone has held up. I was able to stow it in my backpack or jacket pocket without any damage. I have been trying to see if I can carry a small payload with this drone and purchased a release clip for drones. I was able to fly the drone to about 100ft with a few ounces weight but while testing the line got sucked into the rotors and caused the drone to fall. It fell a good 100ft with a lead weight onto pavement and it did not break at all. I was thrilled and was curious if it would fly again. I brushed off some debris and decided to try flying it again. It took off and hovered perfectly and flew perfectly even after taking a 100ft fall. I have also been able to attach a small pen light to the drone just for fun and that worked well too and definitely caught the interest of people nearby. Conclusion: I think this is an amazing drone for the price and I am not sure you will find much better for this price. If you are just a beginner, or even more experienced, and need a somewhat basic drone to take pictures or videos for your own needs or just want to learn then I would 100% recommend this drone. Also, their customer support team has been amazing. They helped me get new propellers when I've needed them and were always quick to reply to any email questions or concerns I had.
