It lasted almost 2 years as a beach toy/hot tub skimmer. It was good at both but wear and abuse by my son has rusted it and my dog has chewed on it. I’m purchasing another one for the tub only because it’s the perfect size for our seven seat bullfrog. By the way, the old one still works as a bug and minnow catcher.

1. Net is good. 2. Packaging is good. 3. Steel ring check. Now the bad. I fear that I'll be getting splinters from the lack of a decent finish job on the wood--I'll blame that on the QA person that checked the product out--or not. The blue neck where everything comes together is cracked at the base so I used black duct tape and secured it a bit. If it comes off the end it's not so high quality. I should post a picture but it's too late now. Lastly, this was a prime item--I don't know how the hell it turned into $7.95 shipping cost.

ordered this for my 6 year old son. It's a great net - much better than the standard ones usually sold for kids. After a summer of near constant use by my kids and lots of successful butterfly catch and releases, the mesh net is just about ready to break free from the hoop. To be sure, it has seen some pretty aggressive hits against some of our plants/shrubs, so it has frayed considerably. That said, I like this net well enough that I think I'll order one or two more once this one finally goes for good.

Super great for catching grasshoppers for our chickens, only wish I could see through the bag to see how many I got, when I open it to check they start jumping out. We have a net one and we can see how many we get, but they stick to the sides more.

The heavy wood handle, sturdy metal hoop, and heavy weight cloth net bag make this very well-suited for random collection by beating through tall grass and brush, an important method of collection. These same things, however, make it less suitable (viz., the inertia) for targeting evasive insects on the wing where you need speed/acceleration and maneuverability; and also less suitable for delicate species that are apt to be crushed or mangled in the very heavy cloth.

This thing is durable. Been using it since March off and on. I just wish there was a more adult version that had a 40"-45" handle with a 16"-18" hoop. 28" deep mesh seems to work well enough if you follow through with your swing. As it is right now I'm about to go to Home Depot/Lowes to see if there's a way to extend this handle.

Sure glad I had this before I received my new Owl Finches. Just as I was trying to release them out of their shipping crate into their new Avery home one had escaped, I was able to quickly and gently catch him and put him into his new home unharmed.. Great product, did it’s job first day :)

This is exactly what I wanted for my kids, sturdy handle, sturdy net, sturdy connection, everything on this net is stout! it's the perfect size and shape for kids wanting to catch everything from grasshoppers to frogs. The net isnt' real long, which I like, less to get tangled and torn, but that means it's really not suited for actually catching butterflies. We have been through many nets and this is the best ever! It also seconds as a great net to get grass out of the kids pool!
