Surprisingly good pen!
I bought the Jinhao X159 because I wanted to try a larger, size 8 nib. This pen is very good for the price, highly recommend it. Although the build quality on the pen is nothing extravagant, it is good enough, and works great. The nib has a nice bounce to it, but the pen is overall rather large, so better for people with big hands. Great value.

great for big hands and an hour's worth of writing
great pen, just one flaw, because the nib is so big, it dries out a bit when left uncapped for a while, or when stored for two days, as is normal for most pens. a hooded nib on this pen would make this a writer's go to pen because hoods help prevent dry out! also, a better cap system is needed, but honestly, giant nibs just have problems no matter what, like nib creep and ink scale build up. definitely worth more than they charge for it.

For big nib enjoyers
Amazing quality for the money. One of the few steel #8 nibs out on the market. If you want to find out if you would even enjoy writing with a 149 this is a good way to start. I did get a dud nib but got a replacement but at this price its not a problem. The replacement is amazing a very smooth. A pleasure to write with.

Jinhao X159
These are really quite excellent fountain pens. 3/3 wrote beautifully smooth out of the gate, requiring no nib adjustments. It includes a converter in each pen. It's a big size pen but light and comfortable even for writing long notes. Overall very happy with the purchase.Tip: Flush your pen with plain water before use. The feed looks as if it's been dipped in blue ink for testing prior to shipment from factory. For a pen at this price point it's incredible that they would go through the trouble.

Writes very well at a low price point
Writes remarkably well for an inexpensive pen - and looks like a multi-hundred dollar pen. Writing is smooth though very fine. Larger size makes it very comfortable to hold and write.

Nice writing big boy
My order arrived more than a week ahead of schedule which I appreciate because 2 will be given as gifts over Thanksgiving. My only complaint is that I ordered <F> (as clearly stated in the product description) but was sent <EF> nib pens. It's not enough to send them back because my intended recipient likes extra fine lines. For me, I am looking for as close to buttery-smooth as I can get and with the <EF>, I feel there is always going to be some light feedback because this just comes with the territory of an extra fine. That being said, these pens are fantastic. They are beefy in the hand, but the grip section is very moderate in thickness. I don't typically post my pens, but it can be posted securely and the cap doesn't back-weigh the pen too much so if you prefer to post this pen, it's ok. Speaking of the cap, it threads on and off with 2 and 1/4 turns. I would love a snap-cap with this model, but I understand the 'inspiration' for the X159 and they certainly stay true to that. I'm using the blue with a converter which holds a small to moderate amount of ink although I think standard international cartridges would work also and may or may not give more ink capacity. The <EF> nib doesn't lay down much ink so the converter should last a while.Overall, this is a very nice pen - suitable for every day use - quick notes or long writing sessions. Dependable writer with classic elegant styling (even if copied) and good build quality. For this price, it is an incredible value!

Poor Man's Montblanc
Purchased this on a whim -- I didn't have a 'large' pen in my arsenal. I was pleasantly surprised to find it a very nice writing instrument. I will never be able to spend the money needed for a MontBlanc, but this will fill the empty space.Unlike some other 'knock-off' pens, this one is a good substitute. I'm sure it won't last as a pricier pen, but it is perfect for those of us who have large hands. Thanks to Jinhao for this nice pen.

Great value for the money
The Jinhao x159 is an incredible value for the money. The Jinhao nib on this pen (size 8) is much better than the Jinhao #6 nibs I have experienced before, so the writing is very much better than expected. The F flows well, runs on the wider side for a F (unlike typical Asian nibs) and is smooth. There are a lot of steel nibs out there for more money than this entre pen costs that don't write as well. Impressive size but light weight (it is a plastic pen, after all). The #8 nib adds to the impression that this is a luxury pen. Overall, it looks like a much more expensive pen. It writes like a more expensive pen. The heft gives it away as a less expensive pen. But the build quality is excellent. This would make a great gift as a starter pen (but not for small hands) or a giveaway to anyone entering the hobby. As it is, I find myself gravitating to one of my x159s on a near daily basis, despite owning dozens of much more expensive pens.
